Good point. Stotts basically stunted young players growth

As often as that gets repeated, I question if it's really true. Sure, Stotts didn't play the young guys much, but I'd argue he had borderline phenomenal success at developing them by year 3. (After that, they often seemed to plateau. Like he brought them along slowly to hit their peak earlier.) Maybe he put in the work in practice not in games, when it came to the young guys?

That floater looked nice too. It's cool to see him have so many shots in his bag and that he doesn't always rely on his freakish athleticism. Really was playing within himself in those clips. It will be really interesting to see him play defense and see his level of consistency, when we get to watch him play unedited on Thursday.
That was my thoughts too. So many moves he can go to. I am seeing Brandon Roy/Paul George type offensive players. Guys who got so many tricks in their bag while simultaneously in control of their ball

This kinda reminds me of when we drafted Damian Lillard and we had Nolan Smith. Thankfully, Keon is an infinitely better prospect than Smith. Not sure we have any room to develop him however.
I contend that Nolan wasn’t even really a point guard. It was the weirdest draft choice ever. Guy never should have been taken in the first round.

One thing Ive noticed, albeit in small samples, Shaedon looks like someone who plays well advanced for his age. like, he does take advantage of his athleticism, but also looks like someone who learned a lot of the game BEFORE his insane athleticism kicked in.

I need to see him play in some games before I offer an opinion. He certainly seems to have the physical tools.

I want to applaud your restraint. I of course am super stoked about Sharpe and a huge booster, but I really respect folks who can say "I don't have enough information to offer an opinion.". Kudos to you!

None of us do. We see that his shot goes in from just about anywhere. We see that he has a really nice handle for a guy his size. We see that he jumps out of the gym. He showed some really nice defense in his workout but we haven't seen anything on that side of the ball since then. The fact is he has everything you could ask for but does he have the ability to put them together, does he have the ability to see the game on both ends and does he have the attitude to maximize all of those things he has.

His skills and his body are generational but his head is the thing we haven't seen. I think he'll have a learning curve but not much different than any rookie. If he's close to as gifted with BBIQ as he is physically and with skills then he'll compete with Josh and Nas to start at SF. I don't think him getting that spot before the allstar break is unrealistic but it's also not unrealistic that he sees very little of the court all season. One good thing is that we don't have Stotts keeping him off the court for no other reason than the fact that he's a rookie. I think if he's ready, Chauncey will put him out there.

There isn't much data to back up the claim that Stotts held back young players. If that were the case, we'd have a bunch of examples of young guys leaving Portland and turning into significantly better players than they were here.

He’s got Dame, as has Ant and Nas.

Exciting times ahead!

I’ll bet he scores 20 in his very first regular season game - I think he’s got Kobe blood

I'll take the other end of that bet, but man that would be AWESOME!

I absolutely agree that Sharpe has Superstar potential. Believe me, I see it too and agree it's all about his effort he has all the tools. I am blown away by all the ways he can score from seemingly anywhere. He uses the backboard and has absolutely breathtaking body control at times along with freakish athleticism. I'm beyond stoked we got him and my god if he can play defense as was hinted at in the film they showed? Seriously, if he can put it all together and Ant continues to grow and learns to defend to at least a decent degree then I can see us competing for a championship as Dame enters a CP3-like aging Superstar stage where he's more about passing and spot up shooting while Ant and Sharpe are peaking and using their athleticism to dominate. It's a beautiful vision and I also think it's very possible. I think we won the draft and time will show he should have gone #1 overall and people will wonder why that wasn't obvious.

Like PatCon, GT2 and Ant as soon as Terry was gone?

Here is Pat's Career Per/36. If you think that's a significant jump, I don't know what to tell you.

Here is Trent the year he got traded. Points slightly up, shooting percentages down.

If those are the best examples over 8 years, I think you made my point for me. Thank you.

Thanks for using per 36 numbers when the complaint about Stotts is he didn't give these guys playing time.

From the few clips I have watched anyone see a bit of Broy?

Seems a bit faster than BRoy and less of the power moves Roy made. FWIW, didn't Roy score 22 points or something like that in his first game? Of course, he started and was a 4 year college grad...
