One thing Ive noticed, albeit in small samples, Shaedon looks like someone who plays well advanced for his age. like, he does take advantage of his athleticism, but also looks like someone who learned a lot of the game BEFORE his insane athleticism kicked in.
He reminds me of Brandon Roy. Roy had serious hops but only used them occasionally because he didn't need to.

IF healthy, a unit of GPII, Hart, Nas, Grant and Nurk is a very good defensive unit

Agreed. Is the lineup perfect? Probably not, but it's a massive improvement from years past. 4 of those 5 players can guard multiple positions (Nurk really being the only one who can only guard 1 spot).

Better then Hezonja, Tolliver, Harkless, Turner, Aminu (he was overrated as hell), Stauskus, and dare I say Roco and Powell.

Thanks for using per 36 numbers when the complaint about Stotts is he didn't give these guys playing time.

PatC and Trent were getting consistent minutes toward the end here, so those per-36 numbers are valid and the best way to gauge whether the players improved after leaving Stotts.

Kid is essentially just out of high school. Wonder how many of us would be comfortable in front of a mic and tv camera at that age, esp when we haven’t been on the main stage in a year.

Gimme a break.
I thought he looked much more comfortable in his latest media availability video.

I said "held them back." What winning coach plays 1st-3rd year players more minutes on average than players in their 2nd and 3rd contracts unless they have major depth issues at a position or they have some top lottery pick?

Look at Billups to start last season, he wasn't playing any young guy more than half the game either (Nas was close in the first 20 games - and he was being held back in previous seasons for other reasons). I wouldn't say he was holding back those players either. Sure, when we were trying to lose, he played those guys more, but that's because we were trying to lose.

It's weird that some people might prefer play young guys like Jake Layman, Pat, Gaberial, Swanigan, etc. more minutes and lose games, than put the best players on the floor. We did that the last 3 months of the season and it was a brutal watch.

what provokes you to say that?

Would be there.
Winslow is best as the facilitator. Nurk is incredibly hard to stop when someone is throwing him passes while he is on the move near the hoop.
Edit: I should say they work best in unison. Passing the ball back-and-forth. Though Nurkic is the more difficult to stop scorer.

You can also pull one of those guys to add either Ant, Dame or Sharpe for scoring and have 4 defenders and a guy who can get you buckets and pass to the open man.

He’s got Dame, as has Ant and Nas.

Exciting times ahead!

I’ll bet he scores 20 in his very first regular season game - I think he’s got Kobe blood

His turn-around fade away is certainly Kobe/Jordanesque. We will see if he can do it in a real game. I have super, SUPER high expectations for this kid. He has it all, just needs to put in the work and put it together. I LOVE his pace and feel for the game. So smooth, so coordinated, such a freak athlete. I'm beyond stoked!

...I don't know if this little anecdotal story I have to share is relevant to the sentiment of "holding them back", but during Bartons rookie season I attended a home game vs Memphis and this was a prime example of Stotts neglecting to give young guys burn in a meaningless game. Barton had played really well in the few moments he got during the first half and Matthews was out there on a hobbled ankle that appeared to be re-aggrivated in the 2nd half. Now keep in mind, Memphis was winning by double digits the whole time and there was absolutely no playoff implications...so what did ole Terr Bear do??? He played Barton ZERO MINUTES in the 2nd half and left Matthews out there most of the 3rd and 4th quarters limping around.

I believe this is the type of scenario that a lot of fans started to take issue with. Why in the world would he not let Barton play? Especially after playing well in the 1st half...it seems like this was the perfect time to let him develop more during such an inconsequential game :dunno:

Stotts was a dumbass. I could have coached Dame to the first round.

Similar story for me. Nas' first start he was shutting down Siakam until leaving with his 4th foul late in the 3rd quarter. Siakam proceeded to torch Hezonja in the 4th quarter. Nas never came back in and Stotts left Hezonja on him. Blazers lose.
