Zombie Blazers Pursuing Pau Gasol

By my estimates, after including the Evan Turner signing:
- Waive Gerald Henderson
- Waive Chris Kaman
- Waive Brian Roberts
That gives the Blazers $8.6M CAP space.
- If we waive Leonard (and keep the rights to Crabbe and Harkless), that would give us about $16.2M of CAP space. 4 yrs / $69.5M total.
- If we waive Harkless (and keep the rights to Crabbe and Leonard), that would give us about $15.8M of CAP space. 4 yrs / $67.6M total.

If we're going to make an offer more that those, we'll need to waive at least 2 of Harkless, Leonard, and/or Crabbe.

God if we offer more than that.... fuck that.

4 year 70 million. So what big can we get for that that would make us better while losing Leonard? Man... I don't want to lose him, but, we need rim protecting.
Should we offer ti to Barbonovich and try to force SA into making a move hoping to start the Durant domino, so everything else happens?

The game is still way too fast for Noah. I think it's just not going to work out for him in the way TRob didn't figure out how to be on the floor and contribute consistently. Some dudes have all the tools but don't have a feel for the NBA game. Ever.
Yeah, most guys who make it in the NBA show a lot more than Vonleah has in the last two years. I hope I'm wrong.

If we sign Gasol to a 2 years 30M contrat it will be a trade asset in 12 months as an expiring contract. Using our cap space to get assets is the way Olshey is manoeuvring isn't he?

I wouldn't release any of Crabbe, Harkless or Leonard, unless it's to sign someone better than Gasol

Match our RFA's and make a trade is likely what we see happen.

Maybe we can take a look at John Henson now?
Loved him in the draft over the myth, but he can't stay healthy. Monroe Kanter are still guy to take a look at. Also could be they don't think any big out there is worth the years and money, and they sign a versitile forward

Gasol is not coming to Portland. If he wanted to come here, he would've accepted the offer already.
We may not be his first choice, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to come here. He'll be 36 next season. He's made a ton of money and will probably live like a King the rest of his life in the Canary Islands. Winning is probably the most important thing to him. What are our non KingSpeed chances of winning a title?

I wonder how much more he has left in the tank. He was one of the best in the biz for a long time but he's turning 36 in 3 days. Not really sure what the point is since we're not really making a title push.

My figuring, probably wrong:

4 years, $70M looks like this:

If we need to come up with a $70M contract for Gasol (yeesh, that's a lot of years), my guess is Mo is the one we'd renounce.

that would be ridiculous to sign him to a FOUR yr deal at his age, if he gets 4 yrs IMO the price er yr goes way down - 4 yrs 40 mil max - more like 30 mil, 70 mil is a fukkin joke

FWIW, I don't think Gasol is going to choose based upon the biggest offer. He's made his $100M+ and seems more interested in being happy and having a chance at a championship. Starting and being respected are the things that seem to matter the most, as far as being happy goes.

agree, and I just saw Ginobli is playin next yr - have to wonder if he knows Pau is comin to SA

It's simple...if they don't want to come here...they can fuck off. I'm still hoping we give Larry Sanders a shot for cheap, re-sign our free agents and call it a day

I was wondering how that may affect their cap situation unless Ginobili is planning on playing for the vet minimum.

I'd like Cole Aldrich IF we could get him for around 8-10 mil per

I always felt he was going to San Antonio anyways.

Pau Gasol to play with KD. It's obvious. Pau is waiting for KD's decision. What a fucking joke waste of time this has been.

with what money?

It's not like Gasol is a veteran in search of a ring, he has 2 already.

maybe he is greedy

That is entirely true. But if he was in search for a ring, he'd be better off going to Golden State, San Antonio or Cleveland, not OKC.

I disagree, OKC almost and maybe shoulda beat GS without him, he's just be another nice add on assuming KD comes back
