This sounds like way more than a desperation plan. This is insane lol

And I thought the Lakers were desperate with the mozgov signing

So now we're going to go after a guy who's at the age when his game will severely regress?? Did Olshey have a stroke?

What the hell is going on?
28? Have you seen his game even? It's not really based in elite athleticism.. He's more of a point forward type. Some odd love baby that Iggy and Livingston had.

BigGameDamian is warging into Olshey.

Pau Gasol 16.5ppg, 11.5rpg, 4apg, 2.0bpg 35% from 3. Upgrade from Plumlee but keeps similar skills.

yeah Why would Portland not want that in a PF -- LOL -- i would take that all day long no matter how old he is

I don't get the age thing, but he would instantly be our best big by far, and we could be signing him with the tacit understanding that we'll look to trade him to a contender for younger prospects at the trade deadline.

Given how Parsons went to Memphis, I am warming up to signing Gasol.

The guy is a pretty good stretch 5 and he brings really good offense. He's a joy to watch at that end.

Yeah I'm sure that was part of the offer...we are going to sign you for yop money then trade you to the Spurs in Febuary for patty mills. Matt Bonner, and the retirement of Greg popovich

At 35, what is the plan going forward? He's just a stop gap and certainly not someone that is going to help put you over the top to win a title. He's still very productive even given his age but this just guarantees Portland remains in basketball purgatory....a Playoff team that isn't a contender.

If you bring in Pau it's because you believe that one of Plumlee or Leonard will turn into something special in two years. I still think Neil is making moves with an eye towards the 2018 playoffs.

We'll never be bad enough to tank in the next few years, and we'll have no cap flexibility either. So either way we won't become a true contender unless we trade for a star, which will always be an option.

Therefore, Gasol will make us better now but won't be what will get us stuck, as were already stuck.

Honestly, signing Gasol would turn this offseason from a failure into a meh offseason.

"Portland remains very much in the hunt for Pau Gasol even after the Evan Turner signing today, per league sources. Might take some maneuvering, but Blazers have room & flexibility."

I would be very okay with Gasol. He seems like he still has 2-3 years left in the tank at a decent to high level, and he can also fulfill the vet big guy role we now need. Plus he would be the big name people were clamoring for.
