and you think a team with the cap/tax problems we do is going to spend even more money to go deeper into the tax when it's already so difficult/costly to shed bad contracts which we have a lot of?

Why do people suddenly think Paul Allen cares about money?

According to Olshey, yes.
when did he last say that? I think after the performances of the guys we over paid last summer and the likelihood of us continuing to spend more given the tax hits coming is very, very low

During yesterday's press conference he was asked if they would use the MLE. He said, "unless we have a new owner."

They will spend money if they think it can improve the team.

ZBO is one of the most likely candidates imo. He makes sense from many angles - Usage, mentoring, financial.

If we cut Ezeli and bring in ZBO that would be a huge turnaround.

I really loved the idea of bringing him back last season, but I'm concerned about minutes. Right now, if we don't make any moves, we have Vonleh, Collins, Swanigan, Meyers, Davis, Nurk, and even Aminu (if you still count him as a PF.) That's a lot of dudes. At the very least, you're going to give minutes to Nurk, Davis and Vonleh. We're also going to try to play Collins and probably Swanigan. I just think it's going to be awfully crowded, and trying to bring in a guy like ZBO, who averaged about 24.5 minutes per game last season, could make things difficult.

With that said, I have a feeling there's going to be a trade. I'm not sure what happened to Ed Davis last year, but we might look to deal him because of his cheap contract. I would hope to see Meyers gone, but I have a feeling we're stuck with him until he maybe gets healthy and earns a little bit of value back.

As much as people seem to hate Beverley, i would deal ed davis for him. Or deal davis to a team for a future 2nd pick, and then swap ezeli and that future pick for beverley if the rockets wanta immediate relief and an asset.

So would I but I doubt the Rockets want Ed Davis. Would the Rockets be interested in Crabbe though?

He wouldn't get 24 mpg, he will know his role before signing, and if he signs it can be assumed he has accepted that role. We wouldn't be losing anything by signing him as Ezeli is gone regardless.

Sign Zbo. That way we're not depending on rookies to contribute. I mean, we are a playoff team right? Let Collins and co sit and learn without any pressure or expectations.

But I'm sure Zbo will get paid more elsewhere.

I'm not sure what happened to Davis last season. He fell off a cliff, and then he got injured. I think his past stats and his contract make him very tradable though. I wonder if we could convince Philly to trade either Dario Saric or Covington with Hendo/Bayless as filler for Crabbe/Davis/Vonleh. I think Philly is ready to start competing with Fultz, Simmons, and Embiid. They need some solid veterans around them. Crabbe and Vonleh could slide right into the starting lineup.

Fultz
Crabbe
Simmons
Vonleh
Embiid

I'd like Zbo back never wanted him traded! I went to his first game as a rookie yelled so loud at Bill Walton to get Zach in the game he finally asked the coach was it cheeks I can't remember? He would add a toughness to the new rookies!
Too much baggage.

What baggage?
Gang banger pals, drugged and cornholed strippers, etc. While Zach has seemingly come a LONG ways since his time here, some things just shouldn't be forgotten.

Don't you think people can change? Zbo may not be the same guy as when we traded him. Honestly though, I don't see him on this team again any time soon.

I'd like to find another vet like Kaman to mentor role for the younger. I just can't think of who this person is. I don't know who's still in the league I. Their upper 30s. Hah, gosh I'm that age! lol

If he wants to win then he would be willing to fill that role. If he doesn't care about winning NO won't bring him here.

Doesn't he still have a house here? Or did he end up selling it?

That would bring a smile on my face if that's where his mindframe is. I'd like a guy like Rodman on our team. I do think Xbo can be that guy.
