Blazers Rumored to be Looking at Ryan Anderson

It's just not a good fit at this point in time. Last year? Absolutely. Right now? Nope.

Ryno is an unrestricted free agent and could likely command more money than Meyers in the open market next summer. We already have too many bigs who need minutes, so I just don't see how swapping Meyers (+ change) for Anderson fixes that problem either.

If this rumor is true, it would seem to indicate that the Blazers have serious doubts about wanting to sign Leonard to a big contract next summer.
Leonard's atrocious play is making that a moot point.

I really hate people comparing Leonard to Sabonis. They are NOTHING alike. Sabonis had such a natural feel for the game and was the best passing player we ever had--at any position.
Meyers is... tall. (And even in that he falls well short of Sabonis.)

Of our current centers Plumlee is actually a lot closer. He's a very solid passer and seems to have an idea of what he's doing on the court.

Hopefully if you read my post correctly you understand that I was never comparing Meyers to Sabonis. I'm just saying that's what we wanted him to turn out to be.

I actually think Stotts wanted him to become Dirk

Well....Meyers is just like Sabonis except for the skill, size, and basketball IQ, and I think Sabonis had a hard-to-see pussy duster on his upper lip when he was young too!

People need to read instead of skim.... I in no way compared Meyers Leonard to Arvydas Sabonis.

He'll command more money because he's a player with talent. I want nothing to do with the continued "development" with Meyers. The experiment is over.

Anderson would be the perfect fit straight away. He averages 18/7 and is a guy you want shooting 3's unlike Meyers.

I do not see any reason to trade a young asset for a UFA. I guess we could trade one of our UFA for another UFA (Hendo for Anderson) but the main goal this year is building for the future, so anyone we add should probably meet that criteria. If they think they have a chance to re-sign him it might be worth a look, but I am guessing that N.O wants value at this point in the season.

so we want him so we maybe win a few more games this year and then he leaves this summer - what the heck is the point of that?

Doesn't make sense this year while we're tanking.

I'd consider signing him in the summer. Could be similar to the Magic signing Channing Frye. But if his contract gets near the max no thanks.

We get to kick the tires and see how he fits before throwing a big contract at him. I think that well worth Meyers and some other asset (2nd rounder).

I know you weren't (although even mentioning them in the same sentence is blasphemy) but people have. People like Shaq, for example (who always hated Sabonis, so perhaps that's it).

Shaq was jealous that Sabonis was the most skilled and intelligent big man in history. By the time the two met on the court, Sabas was slowed by injury and age, while Shaq was the most protected big goon in history. That Shaq took that opportunity to denigrate and insult a man so superior to himself is but the final reason I detest and will never respect Shaq.

Let me tell you something about Shaquille Oneal.

Fuck Shaquille Oneal.

Shaq was protected? He got fouled every time he touched the ball and it was hardly ever called.

Shaq travelled and bull dozed into opponents at will with complete impunity. His obvious foul on Smitty at the end of Game 7 LITERALLY cost the Blazers the finals, if not the championship.

Plus, I hate his fucking guts. So there's that. :)

Shaq was an amazing athlete. It wasn't that he was so big and tall and strong; it was that he was all of those but so damn quick. There's hundreds of people that have been his size but none had the quickness he had.

Later when he was in his mid to late thirties he still had the same strength as always but he lost that speed; and then he was a stiff.

I think I would pick up Anderson if they'd do it for Hendo/Kaman. He'll be 28 in May, which isn't that bad. We could use some more veterans and I think he'd fit in perfectly in Stotts' lineup. We could really use a starting caliber power forward right now, because Meyers and Noah aren't ready.

Huh? Where are you getting all this from?
