Salary Cap #'s for new Blazers
Ed Davis has a descending salary starting at $6.98 mil to $6.35 mil - $20 mil total with Blazers
Al-Farouq Aminu sttarts at $8.04 mil, earning $30 mil w/o options with Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers gave Pat Connaughton a 3-yr deal, $625.1k in 1st year, final season non-guaranteed at min $2.5 mil total
Eric Picus Twitter I think who runs Basketball Insiders. The page hasn't been updated in two days.Link?
Basketballinsiders.com shows the numbers differently.
As of right now, assuming that the salary cap remains at 70M ( i know it wont, but assuming), how much under the cap are we next summer?
Since he didn't sign with a NBA team then I believe we have his cap hold until we choose to renounce it. Could he be a trade chip down the line though? Not sure how that works or if it can work since we didn't resign him.Since Freeland signed with CSKA does he still have a cap hold? I know 1st round draft picks that agree to not come over are removed from the cap. I'm not sure if free agent rights are the same but that would make sense. Freeland could be a good 4th big man to bring back over if we are a solid playoff team in a couple years.
Good question. I don't see any note about it in the cbafaq.com, so I'm assuming the Blazers still have his CAP hold unless they renounce his rights.Since Freeland signed with CSKA does he still have a cap hold? The following are not included in team salaries:
- The full season salary of any players the team trades away in midseason trades.
- Salaries of some players with long-term or career-ending injuries or illnesses (see question number 63).
- The "scale" amount for the team's unsigned first round draft pick(s) when the player signs with a non-NBA team. The scale amount is excluded from the team salary on the date he signs a non-NBA contract or the first day of the regular season, whichever is later. The scale amount goes back onto the team salary on the following July 1 or when his non-NBA contract ends, whichever is earlier. In other words, these cap holds are removed for players playing elsewhere during the regular season only. Scale amounts are also excluded from team salary when the team and player both agree in writing that they will not sign a contract that season.
- Salaries from summer contracts (see question number 70).
- Salaries of players selected in an expansion draft (see question number 112) and waived by the expansion team prior to the start of the season.
- Salary not paid to players due to set-off2 (see question number 66).
- The salaries of players waived via the Amnesty provision (see question number 69).
- For certain purposes, 50% of salary not paid to players who were suspended by the league is excluded. For example, if a player with a $10 million salary is suspended by the league for exactly half the season, then he loses $5 million, and 50% of this amount, or $2.5 million, is excluded from certain calculations including escrow and luxury tax. The team does not receive extra cap room which it can use to sign another player
