Dudes, Kaman is a good fit for this team. Vet guy a little past his prime joining a good yound team to play off the bench and fill gaping holes (Freeland, Leonard). Every championship team has a guy like this.
No, we should have gotten a 24 year old starter for our MLE, because everyone loves Portland so much. ;)

lma/trob/freeland/rolo/kaman/nards is very respectable for a big rotation

health wise, who the fuck knows, but thats the same for every team

when the light bulb goes off for some of you, you will realize that hawes doesnt hold a candle to kaman

gotta lay the groundwork about 30 minutes before last call

How nice is this contract looking now that hawes got 4/23 and frye got 4/32?

i leave rabid possums alone

they can give you rabies

Stop slandering the opossum.

"Any mammal can get rabies. However, the chance of rabies in an opossum is EXTREMELY RARE. This may have something to do with the opossum’s low body temperature (94-97º F) making it difficult for the virus to survive in an opossum’s body."

TRAIL BLAZERS SIGN CENTER CHRIS KAMAN
Former All-Star signs with Portland as free agent

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 10, 2014) – The Portland Trail Blazers have signed free agent center Chris Kaman, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey.
Kaman, 32, holds career averages of 11.7 points (48.7% FG, 74.5% FT), 7.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 blocks in 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.
“We targeted Chris early in the process believing his offensive versatility and defensive presence would make for a quality addition to our front court,” said Olshey. “His skill set complements our returning roster players and we expect him to have an immediate impact.”
An NBA All-Star in 2010, Kaman averaged 10.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks for the Lakers last season.
“I am extremely pleased to add Chris to our roster,” said Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts. “He is a proven NBA talent and will both bolster and complement our front court at both ends of the floor.”
Kaman (7-0, 265) played collegiately at Central Michigan University and was selected by the Clippers with the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft.
He will wear No. 35 for the Trail Blazers.

Official!

Still think we blew it with Kaman? For the MLE he is looking way better than the contract we would've given Hawes. Kaman's a baller.

He's a brutalizer, a beast with balls, a bonifide baller, a beautiful bonanza of boards on the block

This has become the official "eat your summer crow" thread.

If Kaman gives us 10/6 off the bench, that's huge... no seriously. He would have been our leading scorer and leading rebounder off the bench with those numbers, effectively doubling our bench production.

Yeah he's old and maybe even busted, but I think he was sandbagging it more than anything. He doesn't even have to produce more than last year to be a major positive influence.

I don't usually do this, but... I knew what was up, yo.

We have a pretty big team now. Remember how thin we used to be at bigs? Now we have too many! Haha

Kaman is a solid starter quality center, so it's nice to get a guy like that for your bench. As others have said, his biggest problem has been injuries. Looks like he's missed about half the season for 4 years straight.

But his per 36 numbers look really good and haven't been in decline. He doesn't hit 3s, but his FG% on the mid range shot is much better than LAs.

Look at this! A few bright words in the midst of so much cynicism. Some of you were talking about Kaman like he was crocodile dung.

Anyone else reminded of Big Country Reeves with Kaman?

Re: Kaman a Blazer

This is real turd in the punchbowl. Kaman is the epitome of an empty stats player.
Wow. What a desperation move. I'd rather have given the minutes to Leonard. And I think Leonard's shit.

Who is this emo loser?

It remains to be seen, but if he stays healthy I'm pretty confident the blazers have one of the better backup centers in the league.
