Yuck . . . don't like Kaman (now I have to) and think this was a desperate move for the Blazers.

Two thoughts:

-it all about next summer

-Blazers will pick up Leonard's option

I don't expect a trade. I also don't expect big things from Kamen and I don't think the Blazers or even Kamen's agent does with this contract. It is a contract that says we will see what happens but don't really trust it will work out . . . and it is a player who must have has little market value given what other players are getting out there right now.

Has there been a FA signed this summer to less guaranteed money that Kaman? Has there been a FA signed yet as bad as Kaman? This was a move thinking about summer of 2015. Ugh

Kaman isn't even the worst Laker to be signed by a different team yet. Jodie Meeks?

Someone wrote that Neil Oshey was in a gunfight with a slingshot when it came to Hawes, Monroe and ever McBob. These centers get snatched up quickly and bottom feeders will overpay. I think Neil did what he had to to get a better bench. The first 3 guys all started last year so might not have been happy coming off the bench. Won't be a problem with Kaman

Re: Kaman a Blazer

...Kaman is solid and the majority fan base will love him more than they did J. Pryz!

I dunno if I can. I'm not blasting this signing like some in here or anything... I just LOVED Joel

I don't see how this makes the defense any better though.

I am indeed pulling your leg.

Sly always tells the rookies "watch out cause guys like to give rookies a hard time" which I don't really witness happening. So I started thinking - I don't want you guys to start thinking sly is a liar!

I knew. I'm a rookie here, but I posted for the last eight years in the European League.

The Warriors got Shaun Livingston for the MLE.

We got Chris Kaman

riverman's earlier post grabbed my attention and really put it into perspective for me as a fan , forcing me to recall jared Jefferies as the best center off of the bench 2 yrs. ago. NO has improved the blazers.

At first I was like GOD DAMNIT...

Now, I like it. I think he'll do well in a defined role. Love that the second year is mostly not guaranteed.

Hey guys, do you remember when we thought we might be able to get Isiah Thomas for the MLE?

Remember when we thought we might be able to get Spencer Hawes?

And then Gortat signed for a bajillion dollars and I knew we were screwed.

Over the last 4 seasons, he has averaged 46 games a season.

Would you consider Kaman worth $10 Mil a season? You are paying him $5 Mil for half a season.

The best thing about the Kaman signing is the contract. We could trade him at trade deadline and give a team salary cap space or let him go at the end of the year and have salary cap space. No way is this designed to have Kaman on the team long term, IMO.

Pretty good priduction per 36 min. Why did he miss so many games last year?

At this point i wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas give Mo the MLE.

Yeah if it counted against the cap like that you might have a point...

I wanted Hawes too, but it became clear it was not going to be for the MLE. Too many teams have extra cap space. We did accomplish what we wanted and that was depth at center if Robin got hurt, and we still have TRob who I thought would be the carrot in order to get Cleveland to help out with the sign and trade. Kaman is no stiff, he is a former all star. He just needs to stay healthy and along with Joel give us 15 minutes a game.

Actually, It's only 5.8 guaranteed for 2 seasons.

We went from a dream summer of Hawes and Pierce.......... to Kaman and Slypokerdog (probably)..... this hurts right in the feels.

When you put it in terms of dollars per games played, it's not pretty. Hopefully Stackpole can work his magic.

:matrix:

Well, we got a poor man's Hawes.

At least we won't see LMA playing center when Lopez is in foul trouble.

Pierce would have been horrible. Your posts' dreams suck.

Maybe now we'll save enough so next summer we can get both Lopez brothers tag teaming the 5

Damjan Rudez agreed to sign for a one year $1.1 million deal by Indiana. Ben Gordon agreed to sign for a similar contract over 2 years but only $9 million which is slightly less.

CJ Miles, Patty Mills, Thabo Sefolosha agreed to sign for less money per season but for 3 or 4 years so their contracts were more money in total.

Except for the never been to the NBA Rudez one thing those other palyers all have in common is they are guards.
