Hahahahaha

Man, I was hoping you were trolling us.

It's a "meh..guess Channing didn't want to take a pay cut" move.

Re: Kaman a Blazer

So. So far Olshey has done two good things: pick Lillard and trade for Lopez. Otherwise he's wasted two lottery picks when there were more suitable players available and signed people like Dorrell Wright, Mo Williams and now Chris Kaman.

Hm. How's Rich Cho doing again?

Very odd decision.

Some of us were hoping for an upgrade on Mo. Looks like we won't even be getting a replacement.

Bitch as you will and I don't like Mo much, he was not at all a bad move, he helped us to the playoffs and was our only really decent bench player

Blazers have to be the only NBA team with 3 white backup centers.

I'd only give him credit with the Lopez trade.

Lillard was linked to the Blazers weeks before Neil was hired.

@daldridgetnt: Blazers did not think they'd be able to sign Spencer Hawes, who's talking w/Suns, or Channing Frye, rumored to be target of Cavaliers.

I'm not immediately enraged because he's a guy off the bench who will be able to score without any help. He can easily get his own shot.

But fuck this offseason will be underwhelming.

Hawes might get 8, he won't get over 10 and if we don't have the cap space, work out a sign and trade.

I disagree, everyone is overpaying and bigs seem to get the most overpaid, I think he gets close to 10 mil per at least

MLE bro. See Hawes most likely getting 10-12 mil?! We just don't have the cap space to offer

This. We got a decent center to give Lopez a 18-20 minute rest for 5 mil a year, not a bad move. Now all we need is a backup PG to come in and not fuck shit up (Blake, Hinrich, Harris).

Free-agent center Chris Kaman has agreed to a two-year, $9.8 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The second season of the deal has $1 million of the $5 million guaranteed, a source said.
Kaman has a history with Blazers general manager Neil Olshey, who drafted Kaman when Olshey was an executive with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Blazers had discussed deals with free agents Channing Frye and Spencer Hawes, but made the move to reach an agreement with Kaman on Thursday sources said.
Kaman gives Portland a 7-foot presence to back up starting center Robin Lopez.
Kaman, 32, played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, but largely fell out of favor with ex-coach Mike D'Antoni. Kaman averaged 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in nearly 19 minutes a game.
In 11 seasons with the Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Lakers, Kaman has averaged 11.7 points and 7.9 rebounds.

I like this move much more with only 1m garaunteed next year

It's funny to hear people say "so much for attracting big name FA's", as if the MLE was going to attract a big name FA.

I'm just not sure what to make of this signing. Probably of what was out there and realistic, it's not bad.

Next they have to decide on keeping or letting Mo go, and then replacing or helping Mo in the backcourt.

If bigs are being over-paid, the solution is to look at who is getting under-paid. Blazers need depth at every position - so forget position and go for BPA.

no ones getting "underpaid", have you looked at the contracts given out so far? Also given that next yr has only 1 mil guaranteed this is not so bad - also can be used as a nice trade chip and Olshey's 2015 big capspace plan remains intact

With what all the other free agent centers were getting, I'm glad our brass didn't jump on a shitty multi year contract. This is a decent signing for what we had to offer.

we paid more for the first yr so we had flexibility after this season with only 1 mil guaranteed
