Too bad we won the 2007 lottery. If we hadn't won, we'd have drafted Joakim Noah. This god damn franchise, even when we get LUCKY it's a stroke of misfortune.

Noah wouldn't have saved Roy's knees, but he would have made us just good enough to not have Lillard.

So, do you like Lillard or Noah better?

If Kaman gives us 10/6 off the bench, that's huge... no seriously. He would have been our leading scorer and leading rebounder off the bench with those numbers, effectively doubling our bench production.

Yeah he's old and maybe even busted, but I think he was sandbagging it more than anything. He doesn't even have to produce more than last year to be a major positive influence.

"Kaman has a very Al Jefferson like offensive game. Although he is a good player to have in the post, recent years have shown Kaman has a very nice jumper from 16 feet to the three point line, as he made 52% of those just last season. Though he isn't a three point shooter, Kaman does a very good job of stretching the floor with his mid range jump shot; this should help Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant in the low block as teams likely will hesitate to commit to the double teams with Kaman on the court. Kaman is also a capable pick and roll and pick and fade player, thanks to his diverse skill set."

Not a small sample size. He played 66 games in Dallas. If he can remain healthy, he can be an excellent pick up for us.

From a Defensive Rating perspective, Kaman has been approximately an average defensive center (over his career and over the past three years). He's basically bounced around between good and poor throughout his career, but he posted very good numbers as recently as two seasons ago and was around average one season ago. Last season wasn't a banner year, though, defensively. If that's his new permanent level of play, he'll be below average but, again, he's been volatile on that end through his career and he's been solid to good defensively in the reasonably near past.

It's not a thrilling signing, but it's okay value with a little upside. If Portland gets a season of the decent efficiency, good defense version of Kaman, it'll be a steal and a big benefit to the team.

I don't like the amount paid, and still worry that we got nervous and jumped the gun on the signing without waiting to see how the market will be on the rest of the bigs available. I've never been a huge fan of his in general.
That being said, I do think he could help us off of the bench in giving us someone we can get a bucket from down low. Compared to Robinson, Leonard, Freeland, that'll be a big change. For 15-18 minutes a night, I think he has a chance to stay healthy and give us a boost we can use. Hoped for more out of the MLE, but will root for him for certain.

The price doesn't concern me too much. At 5 million, he's an adequate salary filler to be used in trades, as we currently don't really have any. He's also effectively an expiring, so it doesn't hurt our 2015 plan.

Lol what a bitch fest this thread is....

5M for basically 1 year is NOTHING for a decent backup center that isn't gonna fuck everything up in the limited minutes he will play.

Oh, we didn't S&T Meyers for Monroe? Off season failure, time for a new GM

The whole "2015 plan" is all BS. The Blazers will not have much, if any, cap space. I would rather the Blazers take the best players they can get on the best deals they can get. Kaman does neither.

This reminds me of our game threads. Down by 10 and most the forum, up in arms, screaming how we lost the game.

Already assuming this is the only deal we have, therefor the sky is falling. My thoughts are Neil ain't done. Let's wait a few more weeks before we scream for Neil's head.

I think this was a signing that will make Lebron sit up and take notice of the Blazers.

The only thing it would make Lebron notice is that he could potentially have the same bald like pattern of Kaman, and no sweatband is gonna save him then.

That's if he's playing and not injured. He's missed a lot of games over the last 7 seasons of his career.

Shameful... How they handled his ADHD... Complete bullshit way.. Medicate him and put him a fucking barrel??? WTF??

My oldest son and I have ADHD. We tried the medication and I quickly took him off. I don't need zombies. Also that shit made you depressed.

Biofeedback is good non medicine treatment. But coping with ADHD can work without meds. I've done it
