Blazers sign Chris Kaman

It remains to be seen, but if he stays healthy I'm pretty confident the blazers have one of the better backup centers in the league.

That's always the risk with him, but we have (knock on wood) a good new health system to buy into, and a reason to want to play (I think he sandbagged his time with the L*kers... I know I would have!).

Re: Kaman a Blazer

This is real turd in the punchbowl. Kaman is the epitome of an empty stats player.

Wow. What a desperation move. I'd rather have given the minutes to Leonard. And I think Leonard's shit.

How fucking disappointing is this? We just blew out MLE on Chris Fucking Kaman! So much for improving the team this offseason.

Bump

He's solid.

My first thought, as seen in my page 1 post, I was meh on this even though I knew he's solid and that was simply because I wanted a long(er)-term backup.

His drop-step is awesome. Leo needs to be a sponge for as long as we have Kaman.

Honestly I would love him to teach Aldridge some of his footwork.

I am liking the passing between he and Robin. Nice to see two 7 footers looking for one another.

I love being able to use LA, Kaman and Rolo on the court in any combination with success. Rolo and Kaman are really solid together and will only get better. Kamans spin move to the rim in the post is as good as it gets for a big guy

There really aren't many centers in the league that can guard kaman. You could probably count them with a couple fingers. And that's our backup!

I watched Kaman on the clippers a decent amount since I always had him on my fantasy teams and the Kaman we have now looks a lot more polished just from preseason and the one game so far. His post moves and passing are very underrated and his main problem on offense has always been his all to often STUPID turnovers where he seemed to just blank on what to do and throw up a horrible shot or make a bad pass or dribble. With his minutes reduced since he wont be starting bar injury then thats a part of Kamans game that shouldn't rear its ugly head to much.

It just seems like he enjoys playing for the blazers and that's giving him confidence to ball out. Hopefully he's truly found a home.

Thought he did an okay today. When was the last time we had a backup center who knew WTF he was doing?

Dude rebounds, he passes, and he can score on his own. He's easily the best backup big we've had in a long time.

Kaman is a full player - he's got good feet, good hands, a smart brain, and heart.

But, what I really like about Kaman is that if things start getting dicey, we can also run the offense through him. He's a very willing passer and scorer, stabilizing the second unit when it goes awry.

You know if the Thunder, Spurs, Cavs or Bulls had signed Kaman it would have been reported as the steal of the off season. Hopefully it will end up being that way for us anyway.

Can't wait for Simmons's comments if Kaman continues to contribute like he has been.

Imagine the team with a 23-2 record and Kaman is averaging 12/6 a game. Rose asks "Kaman who?!" With a smile. Simmons replies "Kaman is the reason why the Blazers have become the talk of the town".

Rose replies "Didn't you say that Blazers regressed and don't give me this Kaman crap?"

Simmons replies "What idiot said that?!"

I'm gonna pull a KS and say it right now: 6th Man Of The Muthatruckin' Year!

Value-wise, importance and impact wise he may deserve it if he plays like this but there wont be enough flash for him to get it

Oh my God, if he keeps pulling a Fred Astaire out there...maybe he could be our missing piece of the trinity.

I have the greatest nickname ever for him already...

LOL, He passed the ball DIRECTLY to an OKC player last night. Total brain fart. ;)

Still, I was happy with the signing at the time, now I'm ecstatic. :)

Somehow I missed that play. don't know what I was doing when that happened lol.
That's the kind of play that happened all the time to Kaman when he was on the Clippers.

There were a few examples of this last night. Shot clock winding down and kaman bailed out the team. It's great having two legit scoring big men. There will always be two 7 footers on the court (LA is a 7fter to me). This is a huge advantage. Also, how many teams have two above average centers? A lot don't even have one.

Lo and behold: Henceforth, he shall be known as "The Big Deliverance"

Kinda reminds me of a 'Squatch'...sorta fits given the environment. Would love for when he gets sub'd into the game the arena has a primal-beast call (Chewbacca-ish) play.

His shoes have custom "AIR SASQUATCH" on the tongue. For reals.
