need a 3 game win streak to bring home the SL championship.
Go Blazers !! (and tryout guys)

Kennedy Chandler > Kendric Davis in the battle of the sub-six-foot point guards.

Doris Burke thinks Castle's 22 point night was impressive. That's bad analysis. When a top 4 pick can't score 30+ in Summer League, they go on bust watch
What about when a top 7 pick can’t score 5 points?

Clingan just seems slow. I'm sure he's gonna be fine but first impression is..... journeyman big man. I don't see how people thought he was the best player in the draft.

Biggest thing that stands out to me is that he doesn't seem to look completely uncoordinated like most rookies. He's good at going straight up and trying to avoid contact. I think he can play right away. But how good is a center that's just not really an offensive threat at all?
He IS slow... not just 'seems'.

I think he'll be a journeyman player, but hopefully Im wrong.

Anyone who thought he was a Top 5 prospect in this draft was delusional

He's 7'3" and 20 years old. His biggest issue at the moment frankly, is that he needs to get stronger in his lower half. I think he's the type that will become more aggressive the stronger and more comfortable he becomes. That'll come with time though.
His biggest issue is speed and conditioning.

Yes, it can be improved - but Im doubtful he can get to the level he needs to be to be a dominant player

Was an issue with the film I watched of him at UConn too

Yeah, his hands aren't that great. But I don't really mind so much of his passing or catching as I do his rebounding and blocking shots.

He's not, IMHO, going to be a starter.

Not worried about either of those things. It takes all players, especially young big guys time to adjust to the speed of the game (especially for more cerebral types, of which I think Clingan is- thinking slows you down). And his conditioning will come and is likely as much affected by trying to run around like a chicken with its head chopped off. I think both of those will come.

And no, he won't ever be a dominant all-around player, but I think being a dominant rim protector and defensive anchor can certainly be in the cards.

Spurs had 25 turnovers. 14 were stolen by Blazers. Portland coughed up 18 turnovers. But hey, Justin Minaya double digits is a discussion point.

Bouyea kinda wrecked his former team:
11pts, 2reb, 6ast, 4stl, 4blk

Clingan looked like he can already hand in the NBA game on defense for much of the game. He's a force on the boards and around the rim defensively. He also looked like a very solid screen man and passer. His scoring either has a long way to go or he was nervous in his debut.

It will be interesting to watch the rest of his summer league performances with such weak teammates.

Initial impressions are that he'll be dominant in the paint on defense, he moves better than I thought on the perimeter on both ends, his passing skills are really nice and he couldn't score the ball to save his life. Glad we get more than first impressions.

Give him a couple a years. He is only 20 but has potential to be solid.
