It's a guy, Josh Lloyd. He runs a fantasy Basketball site and he has a few good sources. He talked about Dame having a serious issue with his abdomen back when season just started and before everyone else started talking about it.
Few days ago he said the plan was to try get to All Star Break and then be shutdown but it seems he cannot do that now.

Of course take all this with a grain of salt since he hasn't named his source. He has been right with Dame so far though.

"try get to All Star Break and then be shutdown" doesn't make much sense

that's a bit contradictory

At this point Dame is done for the season. It’s pretty obvious.

….and Dame isn’t an All Star this season. Must be his abdomen issues that have thrown off his shooting.

It makes perfect sense, unless you're caught up on the second hand wording. Being named to the All-Star team is a big deal to Dame, so he presumably wanted to get deep enough into the season to maintain that string of honors. He obviously wouldn't want to be shut down as soon as the All-Star Break arrived, and not play in the game.

As he showed while his injury was numbed from the cortisone shot, it is his abdomen that has his shot off. Also Dame has said multiple times that core strength is one of the keys to his consistent shooting from distance.

I don't think he'll be down for the rest of the season actually. Even when this tendon is torn the recovery from surgery is only 4-6 weeks until he can get back to practicing, then two weeks to get his legs and wind back. I think they'll announce that they're shutting him down in a couple weeks and then he'll be back to get some run in at the end of the season unless of course we're in full tank mode and then he'll likely just get his work in at the practice facility. Any way you want to look at it, it's not obvious that he's done for the season.

it might make sense to you but it doesn't to me

Dame has been all about the team and the playoffs. If he knows he needs surgery, the best thing for the team is to get the surgery sooner rather that later. And that statement sure implies he knows he's not healthy enough to make it thru the season

You should spend more time around athletes, less time around analytics. ;)

maybe

it just doesn't seem like Dame's character to not give a shit about the season or the playoffs but to care about the all-star game

From what i read, this is an injury that will heal itself in 3 months. But it needs to 3 months to fully heal. Not a few games, or few weeks. Shut it down till April. The Blazers are going to get almost back at full strength in the next week or so. A trade by the deadline is very possible. The team is playing nice defense & bringing a lot of energy. I don't see that ending when CJ & Norm return. Nance could take a little longer to get that knee strong. Rest Dame till the injury is FULLY healed, PERIOD! See where your at wins wise, with potential deals done, and then decide if Dame plays again this season.

Dame has 6 All Star Appearances. He has missed it due to injury before. Really there is no string more than 4 years. He missed 2016 and 2017. If he gets in it won't be because of the fan vote anyway.
I seriously doubt the All Star game in itself is a determining factor. IMO i would think it was more about the team and the record at that point. The All Star break is quite often when the real push for playoffs begins.
Lillard is not going to come back this year and give the team enough to contend. Makes sense to shut him down sooner than later but again this is just my opinion.

That's because you're adding more to the story to make it not fit. The line of thinking wasn't that he doesn't care about the second half of the season, rather that if he can't make it to the end, at least try to get to the All-Star game.

quick said it's not a question of "if," but "when" dame elects to have surgery and the team is going to "play this season out for the draft pick."
Unfortunately we took a brake of the tank. Hopefully those two wins dont change anything and Dame takes the surgery, and Hopefully he will be at 100% for the opening game of 22/23. In the meantime, Hopefully we play competitive basketball and lose a lot of close games

Anyone who's ever even had an oblique strain and tried to stretch or twist knows how detrimental a core injury can be.
I have and it took a long time to heal primarily with rest and no crunches or heavy lifting. I tried coming back way to soon as I felt good but I would get cramping/spasm's that would bring you to your knees with pain.

It just seems unlikely one can drink like a fish but be in world class physical condition, sans ab injury.
A member I won't name posted that he'd heard Dame "drinks like a fish". We gave him shit for it for a long time. Now it's an ingrained bit of sarcasm that that is ingrained in the board's culture.

I don't know who but I'll just speak for myself:

Blazers should take a position that says to not trade Dame unless he asks to be traded. Certainly don't hang up the phone if anybody makes offers, you never know what will be offered but it's almost certain not to be anywhere close enough to a good return

Olshey was fired just a month ago. There has only been one minor trade around the league in that time. What that fuckhead Olshey did was burn thru nearly a decade of Dame's career, refusing to see the reality of his shitty roster building and his asinine overrating of CJ. Portland owes Dame at least one honest attempt to build a contender around him. They never did that under Olshey and they sure as fuck haven't had time to do it under Cronin

I think talking about trying to trade Dame now is nuts
Hear, hear my good fellow!

Like @THE HCP being a Lakers fan?

I wonder if that Laker guy, what's his name ... THT? ... will weigh in on this.
