I'd happily give up 7 + anyone on our roster not named Dame/Ant ( and take on bad contracts) to get Paolo. This should be our mindset. Not trading down.

Our ceiling with dort on our team taking minutes from Ant, Little, and Hart while not filling our gaping holes at 3/4 is a 41 win team.do we have Damian Lillard? Then we’re not rebuilding.

Could be talked into it if Orlando throws in Isaac.I think it would take 7/Ant
Can't combine free agents with current picks. It doesn't happen. Why do people keep on doing this.I think it would take 7/Ant
We should be trading Sell Low Joe to the unemployment office. All this talk about trading down is killing me. We should be trading up.
Star role player bullshit is the same thing people were saying when we traded for dudes like Roco and Nance. Our ceiling with dort on our team taking minutes from Ant, Little, and Hart while not filling our gaping holes at 3/4 is a 41 win team.
then we would have to trade ant and other assets for forward7 for 12 and Dort? Thats good value.
i don't think people realize how far away we are from contending. Dort is more like the icing on top. We don't yet have the base of the cake yet.Star role player bullshit is the same thing people were saying when we traded for dudes like Roco and Nance.
We aren't a small piece away. We need top talent, not role players. Trading away #7 for anything less than a star player is so stupid.
Dort is the type of player you pick up when you are contending. Portland is on step one of say a seven step rebuild. Dort would be step six. He has no business on a rebuilding Portland team until steps 1-5 have been completed.
you need to make this statement your avatar or put it in your signature or somethingCan't combine free agents with current picks. It doesn't happen. Why do people keep on doing this.
The funny thing is, I was just told last week nobody around here thinks we are close to contending.i don't think people realize how far away we are from contending. Dort is more like the icing on top. We don't yet have the base of the cake yet.
(channeling my inner KP to an extent with this analogy)
Collins is 24. Are we talking about a 24-year-old Melo? I would take that.
Seriously though what if Hart starts with Dame and Collins and either Winslow/Little? Simons can come off the bench and still get his minutes.

says common sense, but you apparently know bettersays who? You?

Thinking about acquiring dudes like Dort, Grant, OG etc. Are all nice pieces to have. I wouldn't trade the #7 pick for any of them though. It will just have us firmly in purgatory.

Well, to be more precise, it would be Dame/Hart/Winslow/Collins/Nurk, plus Ant/Nas, plus whoever we sign with the MLE, plus whoever we trade for with the TPE.So the plan would be to to have a lineup of Dame/Hart/Winslow/Collins/Nurk? Then have Simons off the bench.
That isn't a contending team. I'm not sure they even make the playoffs, maybe they get to the playin as the Hawks did. So I wouldn't want the Blazers to give up draft picks, especially the #7 pick if that is the roster we end up with.

I'll also say that in a vacuum, that would essentially equate to having traded CJ/Norm/Roco/Nance/22#1 for Hart/Grant/Winslow/Collins/21#1 (Keon). All-in-all, that's about equal value.Well, to be more precise, it would be Dame/Hart/Winslow/Collins/Nurk, plus Ant/Nas, plus whoever we sign with the MLE, plus whoever we trade for with the TPE.
Decent chance it could end up as Dame/Hart/Grant/Collins/Nurk, plus Ant/Nas/Winslow/(Bryant/Bamba/Smith/Boucher--whoever they can get with the MLE).
That's a good team. I'd like it better if we could accomplish that while also adding a lottery-pick draftee, but I wouldn't be upset about that squad.
I'd think the goal should be to build a contender, right? Adding Dort to a roster with Dame/Simons/Hart and not much else doesn't get the team any closer. Losing the #7 pick, or trading down, gets them far further away from contending.
laughable that you think you dont.im not the one making declarations
