gawddamn...that was a shitshow....to be expected, but at least it was chuckleworthy

too busy to watch game....didn't DVR...

I obviously didn't get the memo: Little is injured?

btw: a 15 page game thread for a irrelevant game at 12:30 on a weekday....nobody is horny for sports are they?
Little had a concussion two days ago

So.... You think the coach was the problem tonight? I'm gonna disagree but try to stay positive. Stotts has his problems but i don't think he was the problem tonight.

Didn't even watch the game... But I've seen enough of Stotts to know he doesn't hold his players accountable to ball movement and perimeter defense like Kerr or Pop.

Everyone in here saying that the sky is falling weren't paying attention to that game. We were trying to see who could play from the second unit. We were getting Nurk a bunch of touches to get him back in the swing of things. Everyone was definitely rusty but I know they'll show up next week when the games start to matter. Shots weren't falling from Melo and CJ that will fall once the games matter. The thing that struck me the most was that we weren't running our actual offense. Dame will be the center of all of what we do on offense. He will score the most points. He will take the most shots. The vast majority of our actions will go through him. Dame was laying back today, he won't do that when the games matter. We will have a tighter rotation that will include two guys who didn't play today in Nas and Hassan. The first game back with two important players sitting, on a team that will likely only play 8 or 9 guys can't be a good barometer. It can't be something you evaluate because it's so raw, because it wasn't all of our guys, because it wasn't the rotation we will go with and because our actual game plan for games that matter obviously wasn't being implemented.

Hah, it's funny how this stuff still happens without me here. Crazy, I was made out to be the guy that caused all this. I thought it'd be different without me posting in here. Guess not.

Not certain but CJ might have added some weight and he couldn't get up there like he is used to? I thought that was a sure dunk?

McCollum has never had great hops, but on that attempt he was attempting to cock it back and do a big throw down. If he would have gone for a more natural dunk it likely would have been accomplished. Not the first and definitely won't be the last player to be rim checked.

I didn't get the feel that anyone in here has the sky falling and most seem to understand that part of getting not just Nurk but some looks for Collins as well.

Seems like we have all heard this before. I would have liked to see more urgency and less "Ahh Shucks" . You play the way you practice. If you watched other teams on their first scrimmage back you watched some that played with a bunch more real time speed and energy. The Blazers again look under prepared. Lets hope they pick it up.

So already with the "Injury" excuse? I usually am the one trying to make that when i feel it's warranted but the Blazers had the players available to beat that team. Are they already trying to monitor minutes?
One good thing was the scrubs did push at the end at try to tie that game up. It was close enough to think maybe a comeback was possible.

To this i agree to a point? Concussion can happen at any point. Sore achiles can happen at any point. A turned ankle can happen at any point so those are the reasons i was less impressed with this game.

Bottom line- Blazers have to work harder and if they think they are gonna make the playoffs they better get it together. No need to even think about the first round at this point.

Yeah looked pretty un-natural to me.

It was simply one preseason game after 4 months of being sidelined. Utah got blown out yesterday by Phoenix and lakers lost to Dallas. I doubt they are panicking.

Nobody said anything about panicking?

read through the game thread. There were plenty of negative comments and some proclaiming our season is over before it even restarts. It's what all these game threads devolve into when we lose.

I watch the game last night when they replay on nbatv. I seen a lot postive in the game and something need be corrected. I thought the defense overall not that bad yes Indiana hit some long 3 in the 3rd QT when they're guard got switched with one of our big. I did see our guards trying to get up in there guards better but we still have trouble getting off screens. Nurk look really good and Zach didn't look bad. I thought Mario shot the ball well and he did make few mistakes but overall not that bad. Trent some good ball and Gabriel play some good D but still have along ways on the offense. Simon's still pound the ball to look for his points and he needs quit trying be CJ and Dame and be himself because right he just not that good.

It wasn't like they sucked. They only lost by 3 points.

We do have trouble fighting through screens when on defense.

You should have. We looked great out of the gate and only gave the game up once we explored lineups and checked out the young end of bench guys and at the end when the other team put their end of bench guys in, we made a good come back.

In my opinion, we dominated when we needed to. Our starting lineup dominated. Our end of bench dominated theirs.

We still have some weak points to address but the game showed me some good promise.

You make some good points, but I think you would be more effective if you didn't grossly exaggerate by saying everyone in here is saying the sky is falling.

yep. But still so many extremes. lol. If we aren't perfect, we are horrible. No in between.
I hear ya.
It was really nice to see the Lillard/Nurk two man game again and i also liked seeing Collins being in position when the Pacers tried to stop the PnR. Easy buckets!

I figured it would be the first quarter that would be relevant as far as how we actually play and I thought we pretty much dominated.

How many close games did we lose this season to put us behind the eight ball now.

Why are so many people hung up on a preseason game after being out for about 4 months with limited ability to work out? Let's keep it in perspective for what it was, one preseason game. That's all.

It was supposed to read that every person in here that is saying the sky is falling, not everyone in here is saying the sky is falling. If I would have put an is after "everyone in here" then you would be right, it would be a huge and completely inaccurate overstatement.

If Dame imposes his will we beat a team that is a lock for the playoffs with a .600 record. That is without Hassan, who I am betting would have played if tonight were a meaningful game. That's not an injury excuse, that's an exhibition game reality. The urgency you are looking for is also a symptom of an exhibition game, not some big problem with the team. I probably shouldn't even be discussing this stuff because Indy was also playing an exhibition game and everyone knows exhibition games shouldn't be read into. Your bottom line that the team better get it together or they won't make the playoffs is a huge overreaction to an exhibition game in which the team was obviously experimenting instead of doing everything they could to win. This team is going to look great in the 8 games that matter (that's what I took away from yesterdays game), they will make the playoffs and they should be thinking about going farther this post-season than they did last, which means thinking about beating the Lakers in the first round (by the way the Lakers lost yesterday too but I'm betting none of their fans are worried about them getting their shit together). The only reason this team will make sure they are playing their best during the 8 games that matter is because they will be thinking about the playoffs otherwise Dame wouldn't have even shown up.

I don't know I didn't keep track of preseason games because they don't mean shit. Oh you were referring to regular season games... so why are you comparing this exhibition game to games that matter?

One thing this wouldn't be the rotation if it counted. Stotts gave everyone a run yesterday to see how they play against someone besides there self. More of evaluation game for players and get 2 injury players like Zach and Nurk to see how they would hold up.
