Miller should be playing with Oden as he himself has said he feeds the biggest guy on the team. He also led the NBA in alley-oops last year. Making him play with Joel and Outlaw is taking that away.

Playing with Rudy and Outlaw takes away from alley-oops.

The frustrating thing about this unit is they don't try and get Oden involved.

I love Oden and think he's gonna be a monster... but I don't care about which player is not involved if the team plays well.

Oden, in particular, I'm less than concerned by. He can create shots on the offensive glass. He can alter shots defensively. He can do so many things without having plays called for him.

He's young and he's got plenty of time to emerge as an offensive force... if the team wins I'm more than pleased to let him be a badass roleplayer rather than a prominent player at this point.

Ed O.

Agreed. He's been beasting when he gets consistent touches, but tonight he's had to create most of his own looks by hitting the offensive boards. When your C is protecting the paint and on D like Oden has tonight you MUST feed him on offense.

Kingspeed,

As much as I like Blake, it's obvious that Miller is the better PG even with Blakes great preseason night. Take a poll from every team in the league and I would be shocked if 1 GM would take Blake over Miller. Miller just needs court time with the big 3 and he'll make us a better team. I'm all for loyalty but by playoff time the starting lineup needs to be Miller, Roy, Batum, LMA and Oden.

That's perfectly fine for me. 7 pts & 4 rebs is a very good quarter. Let LMA and Roy being the main scoring options and have Oden grab rebounds, play defense, and get his own offense on his own hustle. Have Batum play good defense and only take his shots when they're doubling the Big 3. Same with Blake. Get the ball to the Big 3. Hit the open three if his man leaves him. That's formula for success.

This guy is bitching about the starting unit being +20 against the Suns.

Just let it go, Speed.

But Miller looks for his own shot too often. Blake plays PERFECTLY with the starting line up. Shoots open shots (which Blake is better at than Miller) and gets the ball to his big guns. And tonight, he's even rebounding.

If Miller is looking for his own shot, he would be poison to our first unit. Our starting PG and SF must be role players. Batum and Blake play the roles PERFECTLY.

You don't want to run any plays for Greg? You don't want to keep the defense guessing?

Not every team is as easy to score and rebound on as the Suns.

I do want us to run some plays for Greg and we have done that, but if Greg can get his own, it's even more valuable to us. Plus, Greg isn't shooting a very good percentage tonight. Go with the players who are delivering.

We'll see how good this offense is when the other team has a legitimate center that can actually rebound and a team that can play defense.

Offensively, I'd compare it to Kobe Bryant's situation, since both Roy and Bryant are basically the same in terms of PER. If Miller was taking 26 more shots in the preseason than Kobe Bryant, Laker fans would be livid.

I think it's all about getting LMA and Roy going tonight so they are confident and ready for the start of the regular season.

Also, I love that people are complaining about Oden's touches when our two big contracts Roy and LMA are 7-10 & 8-15 respectively. It's not like the starting unit isn't efficient tonight.

38 to 16 in rebounding, and 12 offensive rebounds.

This doesn't happen against the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers.

There are fewer than 10 of these in the league.

How many legitimate centers are there in this league? I think we have two of em on our team.

The problem is Miller really hasn't had much time with the big 3 to show what he can do. By December I would be shocked if Miller isn't the starter. He's going to make a huge difference in the big games for us. Something we really struggled with last year was beating the top teams in the conference.

We have twice as many rebounds as Phoenix.

Wow . . . after that last game against Utah, this is a great thing to be seeing the Blazers playing like this. Why bring them down to suggest they won't blow out Boston or LA . . . not many teams do and I think you are missing the big picture, the Blazers are playing well.

I'm happy, it's just against the Suns, who have Frye playing center.
