I say we struggle however we have to this season and set ourselves up for next year. Roy will be off the books one year after his last game played, so by next offseason the Blazers should have money to spend. Also, we know that Freeland only wants to come over if he is going to get some playing time, and it will likely cost 4-6mil/year to get him, so having MLE and being under cap is important for next offseason. The Blazers will have bird rights to Oden, from what I understand about the consequences of him not being able to play. Batum, Felton and others are certainly going to require money or decisions next off-season. Basically, having the team be as flexible as possible next year is very important to the future health of the franchise. So I don't want the Blazers spending the MLE this year on a place-holder or overpaid crappy player just to make us 2% better this year. I want one year contracts given to D-league players and Euro-Crap just to give us bodies this season. Don't forsake the future for a couple wins this year.
