Would be fine, if we were also able to deal Simons for another starting forward. Dort is better than Ant, IMO, and a much better fit alongside Dame.

I don't know what you guys have been watching the last few years but Jerami Grant is a helluva player. He's proven that he can't carry a terrible team but he proved before that, that he can be a third option on a Finals team. The guy plays great and versatile defense, he can score inside and out, he can put the ball on the floor and he isn't a big time ball hog. He isn't worth the 7th pick but he's definitely worth getting and I think he's worth just under what he's asking for and will likely take an extension that pays him an average of 25M which would be pretty solid because I think he's as good all around as CJ, a better fit with Dame and I think a player on their level is worth right around 25M.

I'm fine with Dame wanting Grant, but I'm not necessarily fine with the team giving up a lotto pick for him. THe team couldn't even get a fucking lotto pick for CJ.
Years matter too, CJ was under contract for 3 years while Grant is expiring.
Nas/Mil pick/EB for Grant
Murray at 7
This is the way.
Dame/Ant/Grant/Murray/Nurk
I want Duren but if this plays out I’d be happy.
If we could get Grant for that deal, I'd still want to try and trade back to the Spurs at 9 and 25 because I don't think Murray will be there and I like Sochran more if it's next to Grant. So I'd take Sochran at 9 and the BPA at 25 to bolster our bench.Nas/Mil pick/EB for Grant

Yeah they could just send back anything (a future second rounder) with Grant that we could say was in exchange for Nas because on their end they would say it was Nas and the Bucks pick for Grant and on our end we would say it was the Bucks pick for Grant and he was absorbed into the TPE while whatever they sent over was for Nas. Obviously we'd rather not eat the 4M in cap space for Bledsoe though. Also we'd still have the TPE that we could use at any time before February. Not the worst trade (tho while I'd rather con them into someone else, Little hasn't shown he's a keeper just yet).
Can Portland get Grant without trading EB? Not because I want to keep him, just curious...because if I'm Detroit I'd rather have an asset instead of EBs contract just to waive and pay him 4 million.
I.e., take back another player (Hughes, Johnson, etc) instead of the privilege of waiving EB.
True enough. I feel like Dort can be an exception given his demonstrated ability to play bigger than his size. Shooting is still an issue, definitely. Not the perfect piece, but not one I'd be opposed to.my immediate thought was that Dort can't shoot, and he can't. Then I thought of doing this comparison:

obviously, Smart is a much better passer and facilitator but the rest of their numbers are pretty similar. Still, though he's physical he is another short guard
weren't you saying just a few days ago you wanted Portland to add length and shooting? Dort is neither
