Boston Celtics Dame Trade ideas and rumors

I really like it from a value standpoint but I'd want to flip Brogdon pretty quickly. He's too good on the court not to play him and I wouldn't want him taking minutes from the guards we already have.
Keep Brogdon. Hed be a good vet mentor.

You move Ant for assets

I just can’t believe Riley’s ego is so big he thought Herro/Robinson/2 Distant 1s was enough and we would accept it.

I would start the season with Dame on the bench before I accepted that.
I don't think it was Riley's ego. I think he strategized with Goodwin on behalf of Dame to figure out a way to get him to Miami without giving up anything of note. I think they thought they could take advantage of us by "helping" Dame, and they collectively don't think much of our front office. The problem was they got greedy and overplayed their hand.

In terms of what we could get, I still think the best move is sending him to Boston, the Celtics sending Brown to a third team.

Either Houston or OKC.

We could get a lot of picks and young players. I would LOVE to see that happen. I don't really want Brown here. I don't think he'd stay and I'm not in love with him anyway.

I listened to this particular national discussion on my way home. Dame for Brown. The bottom line is Dame would get over it real quick if he was traded there. How could he be pissed at being traded to a contender? The bigger question is do we roll the dice on a player who is a free agent next year?

Brown to HOU. Win-win-win for everybody. Dame would be on a very very strong team. As strong a starting 5, at least, as MIA. Def. a stronger bench than MIA. Dame would be under pressure to deliver, however. BOS fans often, shall we say, are vocal when displeased. No more excuses for Dame. Win a ring or he is fucked either in BOS or MIA.

Brown's leaving a ton of guaranteed cash on the table if he gets traded now. Or, maybe BOS told him there's no way he's getting it, so may as well be traded somewhere. He can only get the 5yr max from BOS, and it can't be in an S&T.

I would like to know if BOS is planning on giving him that payday.

No. We don't. We send him to Houston or OKC.

Something like this

Yeah, I don't think Boston wants to give him the 5 yr Max, and wants to move him because they know he will be pissed. My question is will he take it out on the team he is traded to? I wonder how many teams would clear cap space next year to go after him, or maybe we try him for a year hoping he stays, or do a sign, and trade if he won't?

Boston is the compromise.

They have a better chance at winning a ring than Miami with Dame.

Jaylen Brown would net the Blazers the biggest return to a third team.

Houston can start with a package that might include Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith, Tari Eason, and picks.

I'm not sure if Brown has THAT much value. He's not Dame.

I think we might be able to get Amen, another young player, and picks.

i'm torn on Jaylen vs other assets.

If we can sell him on staying long term, Brown would be a terrific foundational piece. We'd need to find a C in an Ant trade, but a future lineup of Scoot/Sharpe/Brown/Grant/? is really enticing.

Jarrett Allen or Claxton or hell maybe even Ayton is super interesting to me (for Ant).

Also... I want nothing to do with Amen. We have our nonshooting PG already. I'd be more interested in Jabari.

Technically he'd probably be the nonshooting 6'7 ballhandling SF/PF next to Jerami, but I get what you're saying. Suboptimal either way.

I bet you he does. All-NBA guy at 25 years old and coach Udoka would push hard for him.

While Thompson has the higher ceiling (because he hasn't played yet), he might be the worst fit. I'd take Jabari and Eason along with picks. Those two prospects are better than anything Miami has to offer. Houston would easily do that if it meant getting them Brown.

If we could get Jaylen Brown, I wouldn't mind routing him to Atlanta (we could get back Onyeka Okongwu and De'Andre Hunter), Detroit (Bojan and Jalen Duren), or Houston (Jabari Smith Jr.).

The same teams willing to give up firsts for Herro would presumably give up firsts for Ant who is like the same player on a better contract.

I've been thinking of 3 and 4 team scenarios with Boston, but this could make sense.

To POR:
- Jaylen Brown
- Jarrett Allen

To BOS:
- Dame

To CLE:
- First from SA
- Brogdan
- Nas

To SAS:
- Simons
- Nurk

We'd clear a shitton of salary while ending up with:

Scoot
Sharpe
Brown
Grant
Allen

Great foundation to build on and JB would prolly extend with us.

Brown ain't staying to rebuild in Portland. Sending him to Houston for their lottery talent is the way to go. Two of Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith and Tari Eason.

Why do you assume the lineup i proposed would be worse than Houston? Brown would take the most money offered to him. We would be that team in FA.

He's spent time in Houston and Udoka is there. Won't he be unrestricted? I'd rather send him to another team than to deal with that uncertainty.

We would be able to offer him a 5 yr supermax with our bird rights. Very few teams will have that kind of caspace. Him leaving $ on the table is a stretch.

The only advantage a team who trades for Brown has in free agency is that they'll have his bird rights. As soon as he is traded everyone can offer him the same money, other teams would just have to have the cap space for it. Not worth the gamble in my opinion.
