Doesn’t sound like he’ll be here long.

Next guy we sign should be someone that has a chance to stick, not this shit.

Who are we going to get? As long as the other possible suitor for a decent free agent isnt located in Hell, they will always pick the alternative.

I believe today is the 10th day. He staying on?

I doubt it.

Assuming we let Rush go, I think we have up to two weeks to sign another player. Today is also the deadline for buyout players to be eligible for the playoffs, so maybe someone pops on the radar.

I’m pretty sure we’re going to have to make a decision on Baldwin eventually as well. If we don’t sign him to a regular contract I believe he goes back to the G league and becomes a RFA after the season. I think.

This is probably crazy, and stupid, but what about Derrick Rose? If there’s one market that would appeal to his personality it’s portland. No he’s not a shooter but he can score. Had a PER of 17 last year. Could play in any of those three guard lineups Stotts has been experimenting with. I also wouldn’t mind Dame and CJs minutes reduced, especially Dame, who often talks about playing off the ball and how it eases the burden on him.

How many times has a 10 day contract player ended up being the difference at the end of a season for a team?

No much call for a guy with no legs......and the rest of his body is just this side of a major train wreck. I just can’t see the guy playing enough minutes to make it worthwhile.

I'd guess hardly ever. Although I know of a team that added players to a team that pretty much sunk it.

That’s him a couple months ago. Obviously he’s not as explosive as he once was but athletically, he’s still got something left. I think the reason he’s unsigned has more to do with off the court stuff. And he can afford to be picky. Heard he’s gotten offers but wants to be on a playoff team.

No joke. Or a project. SMH

Was this a favor to an agent or somebody's mother or something?

It probably was a favor to his agent, who Olshey is obviously tight with.

Dunno the situation w/ Tyrone Wallace & Lac but... IF we could get him here... I'd love it/he could actually really help us:blazerwookie:

What a waste of money/cap. They couldn't have found a cheaper scrub to sign? Someone without "9 years of service"?
Doesn't matter his experience. The cap hit is the same if he has 2 years or 15 years experience. The NBA pays the difference between those numbers.

I think he is the key to a victory in tonight's game. He will lead us in a 20 point 4th quarter comeback!

So, what's the plan for the rest of the season, just to sign some random Joe to a 10-day every two weeks? Don't we need to have 14 on the roster? $573K gives us enough to sign 6 more 10-day contracts and there are only 42 days left in the regular season. So, that must be what Mark's meant by well positioned to stay below the tax threshold.

Yep. Will sign someone to a min contract for the rest of the season. Who it is will be determined. ..

Because it's the Rose City?

I don't see a point of Rose. Napier is a much better option off the bench.

Look for any small forward that shows promise in G-League or in Europe, but right now it's pointless to sign anyone as starting tomorrow those players will not be available for the playoffs anyway.

So is Rush even going to play?

On 2K, I scouted the G League and stumbled upon Tyler Lydon, power forward who can shoot the three. I traded for him and then called him up from G League. He's doing great averaging 17 ppg.

Didn't Von Wafer get picked up by Houston and then became an important piece in their playoff run to game 7 of the second round? Might've won if Yao didn't get hurt.

I don’t think it works like that. As long as a player isn’t on a roster March 2, they’re eligible for the playoffs, as long as they sign before the regular season ends. Only ineligible players are the ones let go after today. That’s how I understand it, could be wrong.

I think you are correct here.

Here's an older article that talks about playoff eligibility criteria.

Basically, as long as they are not on an NBA roster by end of today - they would most likely still be eligible for the playoffs.

Actually, here's a better link:

Wonder where he ends up. He might be one dimensional but it’s a dimension we could use. No way he comes here if he has other options though.

He's horrible. He's like the Meyers of guards. No defense or any valuable skill. But instead of a big man who can only shoot slow ass 3s, he's a guard who can only shoot hook shots.
