Why did we trade this guy for Bayless again? Might have been our answer at SF. Kid can play.

I mean would you trade bayless for this guy now? 100% yes. I mean the Pacers pritch slapped us on this one. Jack and Rush FOR BAYLESS???? Are you kidding me? All we got was a kid who cant play PG and has no jumper lol. They got a very solid backup PG and possibly a starter.

Awful trade by pritchard.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......................, Oh, was that mixum again? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........................

OK, OK, but seriously, sometime trades work out and sometimes they don't. Overall, he has a good track record.

One is in a situation where they get playing time, the other is not. The other thing being thatif you have been paying attention this year, Bayless actually improved his jumper. Lastly, who was Brandon Rush going to get playing time over? Roy? Rudy? He is a SG.

Get over it.

1. rush is a chucking SG with no minutes available here.
2. bayless is more athletic and given the opportunity can still easily be the better player. rush played about 5x much last year.
3. jack had no future here, and was so valuable to the pacers that they let him walk for nothing : )

in hindsight we should have taken anthony randolph, but rush for bayless trade was a no brainer.

Come on MIXUM. You are better than this thread. I thought you changed up your style and actually made decent posts now.

Guess not.

Ha! MIXUM getting worked up over pre-season basketball, hilarious.

As for the assertion that somehow we shouldn't have traded Rush, you do realize MIXUM that he plays shooting guard (and only moonlights as a small forward). Where exactly would he be getting PT on this roster?

Come on DC--you can't really be surprised. I saw this post coming a mile away, as soon as Rush was identified in Nate's other thread as having the line of the night. I didn't figure he'd make it an entirely new thread, but it does fit his MO.

heres my point....

would you trade bayless for jack and rush?

cause thats what we did.

maybe we wouldnt cause of our depth but i bet you about 28 other teams would in a heartbeat.

and sorry... i think bayless sucks

Well, last year you thought Greg was/is a bust. So much for your player evaluation skills.

Yeah the pacers are gonna be great this year...

So you would trade bayless for rush right now?

Silly.

Brandon Rush would be seeing the same "quality" minutes Jerryd Bayless has with Portland.

Rush is about the same size as Webster... why don't you think he could be a SF?

yup... but that was my lonely stance prior to the draft. A Bigs rotation of Greg LA and Randolph would have been incredible

I'd say there's a good chance that Rush would have been our starting SF last season. I don't think that he is better than Batum by any means, but I think itis possible he would have been given more of an opportunity to win the job.
I'm happy the way things worked out, however. Much prefer Batum as our SF than Rush, and I still have hope for Bayless.

Grabbing Jason Thompson would have been a really nice acquisition as well that draft, seeing as he would be able to backup both the PF and C positions for us. Would have also been a nice rotation up front of Oden, Aldridge, and Thompson between the two positions.

the guy has a good game, and we get this?

man, this is going to be a long ass season on these boards...

are you saying you'd prefer a Bigs rotation with Greg and LA rounded out by Thompson rather then Randolph?

here are stats links from their rookie year...

Jason...13.9 PER

Anthony...16.9 PER

Here is my point. Sometimes when Nate McMillan is your team's coach, in order for you to get him to stop playing somebody named Jarrett Jack, you have to literally trade them off the team to get it done. It's the same deal now with Steve Blake. The only way Nate will quit starting that dude is if we trade him.

My New Season resolution.. not to get into conversations with dipwits.. its like chasing your tail.

I'm looking at the fact that Thompson is a 4/5, and Randolph is more of a 3/4.
But, all I said was he would have been a good addition AS WELL, as in, I didn't say I prefered one rotation to the other, that both would have been good choices for us.

Randolph can handle and pass the ball a little, but height/wingspan/vert. reach wise he measured in almost as big as Aldridge. He was the youngest player in the league last year (19 y/old) so he'll add weight to his thin frame as he matures. I'm fine with LA guarding most of the league's 5s so any combo of those two and Greg would work. Since both he and LA have good jumpers they could have conceivably played all 3 together too possibly zoning up on the other end. Throw Nic and Brandon in with them and we're talking!

Thompson (22 y/old last season) is a decent enough young Big, but I don't think he's as good now and doesn't have nearly the upside of AR.

Amen brother.

We would have a whole lot less fluff and get to the substance much quicker and much more enjoyable for most as well.

Rush is 6-6.5, 210. That's closer to Roy's size than Webster's. He does have a good wingspan though at 6-11.

Bottom line, as a 23-year-old rookie, he didn't exactly set the world on fire last season (9 PER). Batum as a 20 year-old had a far better season (not to mention he's 6-8). I'd even much rather have Martell.

Sadly, there is some truth to that.

JJ shouldn't have been starting, and he certainly wasn't a full-time PG. Nate's failure to accept that cost us a useful reserve swing guard.

As for Blake getting traded - forget it. Jack was Nate's guy - but Blake is Roy's boy. Who do you think is really calling the shots?

I honestly thought he had made a change and wasn't going to have insane posts like this anymore. Guess I was wrong!

If KP gets Pritchslapped, I can understand it.

I Pritchslap myself most of the time I click "View Post." Heck, it happened with the first post in this thread.

he's actually a half inch shorter then Roy in height, but you don't play hoops with the top of your head. Wingspan, vertical reach, and weight are what I was referring to... by those measures he's about the same size as Martell. Besides that, I'm on record thinking Roy will be seeing about half his minutes at SF this year.

I was only talking size. My posted draft day hope at #13 was Randolph and if he was gone I wanted Batum.

I know, and that part wasn't specifically addressed to you, rather the OP (but that wasn't even worth responding to). Good call on Randolph, I didn't think too much of him before the draft.
