BREAKING: CHAUNCEY BILLUPS ARRESTED BY FBI FOR ILLEGAL GAMBLING

Why is Kawhi Leonard not suspended for under the table salary cap ignoring paydays as well as Steve Ballmer?

I believe it's because it's speculation at this point, right?

Yeah, I don't know what the facts are going to look like. I don't know what guys like Chauncey did or didn't do. What I do know if that the dude that held the press conference about this is probably the least qualified person to ever run the FBI, dude was a fucking conspiracy theory podcaster right before being appointed to the position. So I'll wait and see before I pass judgment on Chauncey.
I wouldn't hire that piece of shit to be a fucking dog catcher.

Dear lord. I still can't figure out how someone making millions risks it all for a few thousand.

Technically, Chauncey was not working in 2019, so maybe he did not think there was much of a risk.
Personally, I think it may have started innocently, but went sideways quickly.

It's odd that guys who blatantly cheated in games like Mark McGuire are celebrated and actively coaching MLB. But guys who bet are banned for life.

Not that bettors shouldn't be banned. I just wonder if we get many players that have betting involvement, will all of them continue to be banned for life? Steroids might have had stronger penalties if it wasn't so pervasive.

Also seems hypocritical for the NBA and other leagues to so officially promote advertising from gambling than also ban so many players/employees.

Seems to me the betting could stay legal but just not have direct association with the league or be visible on official NBA activities. Down here the Spurs games are televised on the FanDuel Sports Network. I heard some NBA arenas having betting inside of it.

Seems to me these should be separate "worlds". That's how it was the last century up to just a few years ago.

I still don't think gambling addiction explains it. There are many opportunities to go to Vegas or Atlantic City or somewhere. They have resources.

Gambling was hated until they (the sports) could make money. Now they "hate it" again and have to "look like they care"

They loved steroids until it caused problems.

Unfortunately gambling is here to stay in sports.

These are corporations. Corporations love doing horrible shit if it makes them money. If the fines cost less than the profit they gained they would kill your mother right now.

I suppose an addition could be part of it

Or extreme lack of common sense (idiot/stupidity)

Perhaps they just want the thrill of gambling or doing something wrong.

It's not like domestic violence or drinking and driving make rational sense for athletes to do either but we've seen those countless times.

What I see is them saying this is Mafia ran but we don't see a single picture of the mafia folks, only black men.

Well until they have an OFFICIAL MAFIA MEDIA MONDAY where they get all their headshots taken and credentials passed out……

I hope the dude gets the help he needs if he cops a plea bargain and stays out of prison.

Having made 100M+ in NBA contracts as a player and making multiple millions more per year as a coach, the main question for me is why would he have done these things he's accused of? Assuming he's guilty, it seems likely the mafia types he involved himself with have some pretty damning kompromat over him

Maybe he needed the money for more settlements after train rides?

Or they threatened him and his family.

He likely paid 50% tax on his income. But even $50M is enough to be set for life.
