Breaking News: Blazers will not use Amnesty Clause on Brandon Roy

Add pryzbilla to our lineup and it's 3 really good players, 2 solid players, 3 fragile broken down players, an aging vet, and a bunch of rookies who have no experience. That is not a very impressive lineup.

Oh man, this team definitely needs to add Prz now. As long as they have no basketball sense anyway, why not really fuck this thing up. Hopefully they can bring in Chris Dudley and Buck Williams for some front court depth. A total feel good story for the fans at the Rose Garden

The Mavs handled Bynum & Perkins pretty well in the playoffs last year. I don't think they would have had much of a problem with Greg at this point in his career.

Disagree on several levels. One, if healthy, Oden is better than Bynum and obviously better than Perkins (who was overrated based on playing in Boston). Two, Dallas had enough trouble with LMA that dropping Chandler off to guard Oden would have forced Dirk to try and guard him one-on-one - which Dirk cannot do and at the same time would have worn him out.

This is gonna be a rough season. Makes it worse now that landry and hayes are out of picture.... and Joel is in.

Allow me to point out that according to ESPN's player rankings during the lockout, we have 7 of the league's top 100 players (Aldridge #23, Wallace #48, Roy #59, Batum #70, Camby #74, Felton #80, Matthews #100). How many other teams can say that? A healthy Oden and a passable Roy gives us arguably the best 8-man rotation in the league.

yup, we just need to catch lightning in a bottle with no injuries, and make a damn run this year

So what you are saying is that if we don't win the championship it's the coaches fault? I mean with that awesome roster, how could we fail?

Felton/Smith
Roy/Wes
Wallace/Batum
LA/Wallace
Camby/Oden/Johnson

LOL that team is full of gazelles except the one guy that will dominate the ball more than anyone else. This is a huge failure by the "brain trust" at One Center Court to realize what pre-schoolers learn on a daily basis.

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right!

LOL Heeeeeeeeeeee's Baaaaaaaaaaaaack and I agree with your "post coma" comments

I think both Bynum and Perkins are overrated as well, but Oden is the king of overrated on this board. People conveniently forget how awful his footwork and robot-like post moves were. He was in constant foul trouble for trying to make silly plays on defense as well. He was solid in transition, but years away from being a dominant big man in the half-court Nate offense.

Teams like Dallas handled the Blazer by not defending the perimeter and daring them to shoot. The Mavs packed the lane and took away the easy stuff inside. If we want room for LMA to operate, we need shooters.

How can you possibly rely or think we'll have a healthy Oden and Camby, and WTF is a "passable" Roy? The best 8-man rotation in the League? LMAO

One of those hasn't played ball for two years and has had two MF's and another major knee injury
One of those guys is bone on bone in both knees and with playin time will only get worse and plays matador D
One of those guys is an ancient 38 yrs old, no offensive threat at all, and gets injured often and should not play more than 20 MPG

Oh yeah, I plan on winning a 100mil lotto tomorrow too

Only time will tell how this turns out. I drink a full glass of Blazer kool-aid every day, so I think Roy is gonna be very productive again. Not All Star good, but good.

This is going to be a great season. If we get lucky with our health we're nearly a shoe-in for the WCF.

I understand people that are negative because of the history of Oden. However, he is definitely our BEST chance at having a great season. There has also been no definitive information communicated that indicates he will be injured in this fashion continually. I'm all in.

Like when we lost to Houston in the first round a coupe of years ago?

That turned out to be a tough matchup. Fortunately Yao isn't around anymore. Houston even without Yao still managed to take the eventual champs to 7 games.

Still, nowhere close to the WCF with a healthy roster.

you could say that about any team in the nba, and end up being "right" more often than not

Great move by Blazer Brass. If Roy doesn't play well, then the Amnesty will be warranted. Kudos Brass!

I'm with ya!

Great move? Who is our backup PF/C when Camby, Oden and god forbid LA get hurt??? Chris Johnson? Pryz???

At this point Carl Landry over Roy

this is going to be a great season..... IF x 1000

I put this in another thread, but I guess I'll post this where it belongs, LOL:

If Brandon wanted to bail on the Blazers and go ring shopping, this was his perfect opportunity. He could have 'not' sold himself to Larry, Curly and Mo, they could have chosen amnesty, he still would get paid and could sign for the minimum someplace else. The bazillion dollar man seems to want to play in Portland, and he wants to play to best of his ability. I've been pretty rough on Roy for certain aspects of his attitude (deservedly so in my opinion) over the last two years, but the guy did not just mail it in once he got his contract, even though the injuries gave him the perfect 'out'. I'll give him credit for that.

THIS... Couldn't have said it better myself. At least he isn't LJ that demands to win a ring. Roy loves Portland and this is why I love him!

LYAO all you want. Felton, Matthews, Batum, Wallace, and Aldridge are all good, and are all healthy. As for the other guys, here's what I'd like to see for a decent season:
  • Oden: 50 games, 24 mpg--8 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 bpg
  • Camby: 50 games, 24 mpg--4 ppg, 8 rpg, 1.5 bpg
  • Roy: 40 games, 20 mpg in a backup role--10 ppg, 3 rpg, 3 apg
None of those are unreasonable. If we got that, plus good health and decent production from the top 5, are we not a playoff team?

So what you are saying is that if we don't win the championship it's the coaches fault?

No, not championship, but a good coach should be able to guide that team to win a playoff series or two if healthy.

Phew, I feel much better now.

Hopefully he chooses Bucks so the Blazers have to get a real player.

I know you are smart enough to know we are not going to get a Howard or Paul to come here. (and stay) So if you are the GM, who do you go after that will get us to the WCF?

I agree LA, Dallas, and OKC are better. But cutting Roy just so we can "make trades" is inaccurate IMO. We can make trades regardless. Who do you want to trade or develop. (ROY is not an option to trade because of his contract)

Wallace, Oden, Felton, Wes and Batum are all on the table. Who does GM MM go after?

Pryzbilla would be a great addition. Plus it would basically mean we got Wallace for nothing. All we need is a big body out there that can rebound, block shots and defend. All assets of Pryzbilla. I would gladly take him.

Agree with Brock. There is simply way too many IFS on this roster. I am not comfortable with pryz as a 3rd backup no less a rotation player. They needed to cut Roy and bring in legit front court help. Not washed up players and projects.
