And yes, since the Richard Jewell fiasco, I am very skeptical of the FBI and their initial reactions to this stuff.

They did take some. It wasn't much, but we did learn what direction the white hat guy went afterwards. I'd think the FBI knows very well that people will be thinking about the Richard Jewell disaster when they planned this.

It's weird that there is no thread about the huge explosion in Waco Texas. Apparently a fertilizer plant blew up and killed at least 100 people and injured well over 300.

This event killed 3 and injured 60 and is a worldwide event.
