Brexit

the US Constitution doesn't have a secession clause. I don't expect Texas is likely to go to war over it.

No need to go to war. There is nothing in the Constitution to cause them a problem leaving. Obama would not have the stomach for it, just because Lincoln made that error.

Since the late 1700s the Brits believed they are better than the Americans. Time and time again they are proven wrong but do not learn from it. All the recent glee about the upcoming US election and then they go and Trump themselves ...

Yeah, sorry, I meant Northern Ireland.

Well I think most of Ulster are pretty much in line with their clansmen in Scotland. Many of the Orangemen have clan members on both sides of the North Channel. Although the industrial areas of Antrim, Belfast voted to leave the EU like the
similar areas of England. Globalization is affecting them just like the workers in this country. Reducing them to part time workers in a global society with an excess of labor available. The elite can move the work to the low cost area unimpeded by boarders. Indeed, governments will continue to seek the work for their constituents, competing to offer the sweetest deals to the global employers.

A crappy way to run a country, the word is getting around.

umm, and during this period, more of them have immigrated to this country than there are on their Islands. But then, I do know a couple of those of which you speak.:cool2:

The only way to go back would be a Premier League Soccer strike...there would be a revolution!

The Brits' appetite for exit seems to foretell the US appetite for Trump. I saw an interview with one of the brexit folks and they sounded a lot like Trump. Anti immigrant, wall around the border, etc.
Yeah I've been seeing the same thing. Looks like other EU countries have large groups feeling the same way.

If Trump gets elected, can the north secede from the south?
How about every state that votes for Trump can secede from the rest of us. The disconnected states can be held together with lots of hair spray and a blow dryer much like the Donald's wild badger-like hair-helmet.

Scotland is considering a second referendum.

That's the funny thing about England. They're both on the same damn island. I remember watching Braveheart when I was younger and not realizing that it was basically like Oregon and Washington hating each other, and Washington ruling over Oregon with the only thing between them being some river. It's a little absurd.

The republic survived Obama and Carter. It will survive Trump. Worst case is he'd be gone in 4 years. If not, he'd have done a good enough job to get reelected.

I was being mostly facetious. I would definitely call myself the opposite of a Trump supporter, but the country would survive. Right now, I'm pretty disillusioned with both sides of the political aisle in this country. I suppose sarcasm is my only outlet.

Scotland is considering a second referendum.

Herein lies the irony. They are bound on leaving the EU because the rest of the U.K. chose the best path for them, "for the greater good". Scotland had no autonomy.

Pretty much the reason the U.K. voted on Brexit to begin with, to free themselves from the chains of others (the rest of the EU) determining their path.

People will say that Trump was incorrect that Scotland voted to LEAVE the EU. But they are leaving the EU as members of the U.K.

Korea or Iran?

Diplomacy has worked great in both cases.

So that means we should nuke them? All North Korea has nuked is themselves. Iran hasn't tested a bomb. Israel denies even having nukes.

Ireland is independent from the UK. Your Scotland statement is most likely true.

Scotland as part of the EU! Let see, what do the Scots make;
CQR anchors - pretty good Will sell to sailors EU or not
Whiskey - pretty good Will sell every where, EU or not
Beer - Damn good But never leaves the Island anyway
Golf - Pretty good But you have to go there EU or not.
Ship - Once the world best from the river Clyde. Last century.
? - Why would they go to the EU on there own?
