You never know what skeletons Paul Allen might have in his closet, but I think he is a very passionate, kind hearted and progressive type person and a great refection of the Portland community. Portland is lucky to have him as the owner of the Blazers.

I don't know if many people would get their knickersin a twist if someone had an Irish Pride or Italian Pride tattoo, but white pride, yes. Feeling an affinity to your cultural heritage is one thing, but race is another.

People feel proud to belong to a certain "club". That in itself is a little bit lame, but I think saying "white pride" or "brown pride" is racist in that it's implying that people are separate just because of skin color.

My point is that people would be rioting if someone were to create a network called "white entertainment television". And I call that a hypocrisy/double standard.


If the owner was black and exclaiming about how he needs to have more black people show up so he should play music that interest them it would be fine. But the other way around and the guy has to resign. He wasn't being racist, he was being frank about the demographics and spending habits.

When you're argument comes down to one word and one word only there is no double standard. B.E.T. targets a specific audience. El Rey just started up this past year, its target audience are Hispanic people who don't speak Spanish. "El Rey (Spanish for The King) is an English language American television channel targeting Latino audiences." It's a network for people like HCP. Is that racist? Is it okay because they don't call it the Latinos who only speak English Entertainment Network? No, they are targeting a specific audience. Just like B.E.T. is. Just like a lot of existing networks are targeting white audiences. You keep saying there is a double standard but there isn't.
