Horford and Milsap FTW.
Monroe is exactly like Zach Randolph. The best player to pair with him is Marc gasol. Many people have mentioned Milsap and Ibaka and I agree they are good fits, but it is highly unlikely the thunder move Ibaka and the Hawks would want quite a bit for Milsap as well. It almost sounds video gameish expecting Monroe and then Gasol, Milsap, or Ibaka.
I would consider that a "meh" summer at best and more of a significant disappointment, if we failed in other pursuits and got these guys fairly cheap (Monroe especially - cap and little more) then maybe as Monroe probably is a 1 yr deal and Milsap has 2 yrs left. Neither guy is cheap salary wise with Milsap at 19 mil per and Monroe 17.5.Dare to dream.

Milsap is a damn good defender. Used properly, our P&R defense would improve immensely. You'd have to "hide" Monroe thoughOffensively they should be quite good but they would give up 110+ points a game. No shot-blocking, no rim protection, PnR defense would be abysmal and teams would score inside at will.

You underestimate Millsap's defense.

I really like Millsap but while is a solid man defender, it it was he and Monroe there is no rim protection to speak of. Aminu would probably be the best shot-blocker in that line-up.I wasn't underestimating Millsap. My mind was trying to imagine the wet-paper obstacle that Lillard, CJ and Monroe would put up regardless of the other two players on the floor.I really like Millsap but while is a solid man defender, it it was he and Monroe there is no rim protection to speak of. I'm aware of the numbers, I just don't think from an 'eye-test', Millsap is who you have as the anchor of their defense and if that is the case, you probably aren't going to be an elite team. Also, how does that continue as he is on the wrong side of 30? Now if you combined him with a center NOT named Monroe who he could team with defensively, now I think you have something pretty special for at least a year or two.

What would you give up for Monroe, or do you have any interest in him?

Bucks Shopping Greg Monroe
June 20th 2016 at 10:57am CST by Luke Adams
Less than a year after signing him as a free agent, the Bucks are shopping Greg Monroe “hard,” reports Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops and The Associated Press (via Twitter).
Monroe, who turned 26 earlier this month, was his usual effective self during his first season in Milwaukee, averaging 18.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per 36 minutes to along with a .522 FG%. However, while Monroe was a productive low-post scorer and rebounder for the Bucks, his defense was lacking and he didn’t provide much rim protection.
In our Bucks offseason preview, Dana Gauruder observed that Monroe’s defensive shortcomings could prompt the team to explore the trade market for him, as was reportedly the case at last season’s trade deadline. Although Milwaukee ultimately told Monroe he wouldn’t be moved at that time, at least one report suggested that he would have been obtainable if a trade partner had been willing to give up a “decent” first-round pick.
It remains to be seen what sort of package the Bucks will seek if they move Monroe this offseason, but he’ll enter the 2016/17 season on an expiring contract of sorts. The ex-Piston is Milwaukee’s highest-paid player, with a $17.146MM cap hit for the coming year. He also has a $17.884MM player option for 2017/18, though there’s a good chance he’ll turn down that option and return to the open market a year from now, with the salary cap on the rise.
In addition to figuring out whether or not Monroe fits into their plans next season, the Bucks will also have to determine what to do with Michael Carter-Williams, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Carter-Williams will be extension-eligible, but he was the subject of a few trade rumors earlier this year, and may not have a long-term future in Milwaukee.
Larry Sanders and Greg Monroe.
Larry Sanders and Marvin Williams.
Larry Sanders and Kevin Love.
Howard and Love.
If the final outcome was Monroe/Millsap and we keep Crabbe/Harkless, I would call that a solid summer.

with Crabbe, Harkless, and then whatever we have left from trading for Millsap. I'm hoping we can still snag a decent backup point guard.
Re: Monroe.
I think there is a place for a good-passing, good-to-great back to the basket player, even if they can't play D. But I think it's as a spot player, somebody to bring in when it works, but not as a key starter or even rotation player. Would Monroe accept that? Even if so, he's way overpriced for that role. I'd much rather target Marjanovic, because he's ideally suited for that role. (And is also taller so can just be a defensive presence merely by raising his humungous arms.)
Compare their per 36 stats.
how much leeway does the CBA all for incentives? If the Blazers could get Sanders on an inexpensive, incentive laden deal, I'm all for that. No doubt about the talent, it's about his basketball desire. More production, more money. That should be the way it is anyhow.
I sincerely hope Greg Monroe is not our starting Center next season.
I thought he would be a trade target not a FA?As I've said, if it's a use it or lose it situation with our cap space, I would take him.
