here we go again...

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=231824

because of the CBA gordon if traded via S&T has to be traded with either nocion or hughes because his contract will only be worth half of what its really worth...

hmm should the nets make a run at BEN and NOCIONI?!?! :o i dont particularly like hughes so ill pass on him... but gettin ben and nocioni wouldnt hurt at all ^^

i always liked nocionis game. he is tough, he can score...hes like what nachbar SHOULD have been. i hope we get him

The "big" fine print there is that we're talking about trading Nocioni or Hughes in the context of a contingent trade of Ben Gordon.

Why do the Bulls want to S&T Gordon? That's the first question to be answered. If you think they want back a bunch of contracts, it doesn't make sense. Expiring contracts don't make sense, either, since they can just rescind the QO to him and let him walk which is better than an expiring contract. Why do they want to give up a really good player on a moderate sized contract for the benefit of doing this S&T?

well i dont kno... maybe they wana get rid of nocioni or hughes contract... dont kno... im just postin what i read :)

How far are they from the cap? You can trade expirings, but not cap space.

Not this again. I thought it was pretty clear that any Chi-NJ deal involving Nocioni wasn't going to happen, especially after signing Najera and Hayes.

and that's still probably true. I expect only a minor move or two before camp starts.

Maybe you missed my point. Why trade for expiring contracts and pay the players for a year, when they can just let Gordon walk and pay nothing to nobody?

I don't want anything to do with Ben Gordon at the price he wants.

Because they are looking to dump Nocioni's contract, and can only take back 1/2 of Gordon's contract amount back.

Bulls are looking to save money.

And I believe Hughes is now an expiring contract.

Hmm i wouldnt mind nocioni and gordon can be instant offense off the bench... u guys forget that ben is clutch in the 4th quarter...

I can't wait for Ben Gordon to sign a long contract with CSKA. Way too much drama for a player of his stature

Why do the Bulls want to dump Nocioni's contract? Without Gordon, they'd be $12M or so under the LT threshold. That's less than they've been paying the past few seasons.

Hughes' contract expires for the 2010 FA period. They're certain to want to play Hughes if Gordon's gone.

Luol Deng and Thabo. And they feel Nocioni may have peaked, and is susceptible to injury due to his style of play

Pax is a stubborn guy. He's going to make Nocioni work out for the team or else. Nocioni may well end up playing a lot of PF for the Bulls this season. Aside from all that, he'd be the only real 3pt threat the Bulls have if Gordon is gone.

Pax ain't that stubborn. He's been shopping Noce since last season ended.

Get Nocioni Mullin, DO IT.

Before...and I think we are very near the point where Hayes could be included in a trade. Najera is the issue. Najera is the glue guy the Nets missed last year. He's not going to be traded. Do they need both. Nets have enough to get Nocioni if the Bulls are looking for expiring contracts, a young player and/or a first round pick.

Question is do they still want him and his contract which runs to 2011-12 (team option in 2012-13) and which also permits him to play for Argentina, risking injury.

Trade Vince Carter for Nocioni and Gordon. Give Gordon the starting SG job that he always wanted, playing him over 40 minutes a night; the thought of his production would be scary. He's always been a starting player. Nocioni could also start at the SF for the Nets.

Cant wait to see the responses on this one.

Waiting Eagerly!!!!!!! :smiley-uljenavatru:

More from the Daily Herald article:

Gordon said recently he expects a sign-and-trade to happen, but there hasn't even been a credible rumor floating around to suggest any NBA team is hot on his trail. That doesn't mean a sign-and-trade will never occur, but in this case, no smoke probably means no fire.

I thought it was 60 days. September 14th would be 60 days.

Nevermind... answered my own question.

Larry Coon said:
Generally, a player cannot be traded until three months after signing a contract or December 15th of that season, whichever is later.

So after the posts about wanting to make Yi the first option, you are recommending the Nets trade for a player that wants to be the #1 option, has trouble creating shots for others and doesn't help big men score.

Trading Vince for Ben Gordon is a horrible suggestion when measured on how it would impact Yi

I don't know if I trust Gordon with 40 minutes a night. I'm sorta defending Vince here, OMG.

At this point I'm optimistic when it comes to Vincey Carter. Don't disappoint me!

Hypothetically (because I don't want Ben Gordon), what would that do to our cap space in 2010 if we took on the contract of Gordon and Nocioni. I know if we took Gordon and Hughes we'd still have room as long as we moved Vince at some point before summer 2010, but taking I'd rather suck for the next 2 years than take Gordon and Hughes. I really do like Nocioni, but since his and obviously Gordon's contract run past 2010, I wonder what we'd have to do to get the cap space back. Najera and Dooling have the small buyouts that summer so would that be enough to get the space back? I don't think so just thinking off the top of my head. Anyone feel like doing the math on this?

Regardless, I really don't think it'd be in our best interest to get Gordon unless he came cheap and didn't kill our dreams of the 2010 summer.
