here's Scoot's dime to Drummond (wrong team) at the 2:00 mark of these highlights.

I had to slow it down to see where this pass was supposed to go. It just looked weird. After some angular assimilation, I'm pretty sure Scoot thought the lady referee running down the sideline was a Blazer. The whoops pass might have tagged a streaking Reath right in the kisser. We can thank Drummond for getting a paw out, and preventing a Duop fat lip.

anyways... Scoot got benched after this turnover

He was passing to Duop, but showed that he's still thinking he's better than he is. Not saying he's a bust, but it's not clicking yet. Still hasn't adapted to, or adjusted to, NBA level defenses.

clearly a pass to Duop. Duops hands were up and head turned, ready to receive. Bad pass though.

Ricky Rubio is in the news again because The Athletic interviewed him, and apparently he has asked Barcelona if he can practice with them, so I went back and watched his rookie highlights. Sigh. Let's just say I miss point guards who could pass.

I never said he didn’t have those things.

But I do think if we want to turn this tank around, we can’t be having top 3-5 picks (and Shaedon) turning into “good” role players. They need to be borderline allstars at a bare minimum. If Scoot is Jalen Suggs type, we need Shaedon to be an allstar and vice versa. Can’t have both of those guys not be an allstar.
That's what I'm afraid of. We've endured two tank seasons, and don't even known if we have 1 borderline all-star on our hands to show for it.

Here's a look at Scoot's progress over this season -

Note: Game Score was created by John Hollinger to give a rough measure of a player's productivity for a single game. (40 is an outstanding performance, 10 is an average performance.)

Breakdown:
- 1 very good game (vs PHO, 1/14)
- 4 good games
- 15 okay games
- 9 bad games
- 8 terrible games

The key is the trend line is going in the right direction.

I always wished we had given the Rudy/Sergio experiment a little bit more time to gel. Just felt Rudy could have shown like Petro did.

And he's only 19 years old during all those games trying to learn the toughest position in the league. I think he's going to be alright.

I saw the bad Scoot pass live, then found the replay. I went over it several times in slowMo... i was left befuddled.

option 1: Scoot saw Duop streaking through, and fired a pass at the back of his head.

option 2: Scoot thought Doup might stop at the 3 point line, which is why the pass was behind Doup.

option 3: Scoot thought the lady ref was a Blazer, and didn't pick up Duop running through the passing lane to the referee.

It should be concerning that he looks basically the
same now as he did in game #1 of the season.

At least he isn’t rocking a -7 PER anymore though

Exactly. Portland is a great example of why you shouldn’t tank.

You have to stop kicking the can down the road at some point and try to win with what you have. You usually only get 1 significant difference maker per 3 top 10 picks anyway.

you might be right that he thought Duop was gonna stop at the three point line.

3 straight games of shooting at least 50% from the field.

Also... think it was mentioned on the broadcast last night, but he has hit like 27 straight FTs.

If you remove his abysmal October shooting the three, his 3pt shooting is passable for a teenage rookie at 34%.

kind of looks like normal variance, at least on FG's and FT's, and he's just in a hot streak now. On FG's, the three games before this 3 game streak he was 12-36 on FG's. And in the three games before his current FT streak, he was 7-15

still, when he re-sets to a norm, each new reset seems to have a little higher mark than the previous one. He's back over 40% on two's; that's not good but it's better than the 38% he was batting a while ago

as far as his three's, he's been doing a lot better lately. But I don't like that 1/3 of his FGA have been three's. I think that's too high a rate for him. Obviously teams are baiting him to shoot them and constantly going under screens so three's are available, but he needs to resist the temptation a little more often

by the way, he has also improved his FG%-at-the-rim lately. He was hovering around the 50-51% mark most of the year. But then he had a disastrous showing over about 7 games and had dropped all the way down to .487, IIRC. He's now at .502

if he could use his left hand I think just about all parts of his offense would improve. That's what he needs to work on the most next summer

I think 1/3 of Scoot's FGA's have been threes due to the way he is being used by CB. Much of the time he is the off guard watching Ant or Brogdon doing what Scoot was brought in to do. He pretty much gets the kick out when the others get stopped or the shot clock is nearing zero.

what the fuck are you talking about?

nothing I said there was negative

Billups in his postgame last night said he has been telling Scoot to pull up if defenders keep dropping that far under. He said Scoot has to start applying what he spends his time training on into practice in games. Scoot echoed the same in his postgame. I like that mentality.

His two biggest issues that are leading most of his problems are his finishing at the rim and his shooting. Once he starts improving even to average levels at those two things, his game will take an astronomical leap.

Just needs reps as Brogdon said. Trading Malcolm is paramount.

didn't feel the need to respond as I thought it was a rhetorical question. lol
His post actually had a bunch of positive in it. I was just messing with him.
I hope he knows I was not really being serious.
Just having fun with it.
