Bust a Scoot?

I agree that we have more talent than we realize. I'd like us to expect faster improvement, and not settle for any #3 pick (regardless of the quality of his draft, an irrelevant argument) taking years to become starter quality.

Billups and the tanking started 3 years ago. If the tanking campaign takes 5 years, then we have 2 years left. The 5-year plan is now a 2-year plan. It's later than we think.

We've never really detailed the plan...including contingencies for if it isn't working after 3 years, after 4 years, after 5 years, etc. How much improvement in each high pick's playing do we need to see 1 year after drafting him, 2 years, 3 years, etc. We've never fleshed it all out. Probably needs its own thread, but that would just devolve into Platypus-like insults.
The Blazers won 33, 27, and 21 games the last 3 years.

That's not a great job of tanking over 3 years. It's actually pretty miserable. And it's probably either going to require us to tank a little longer or lead to us not being as good as we could have been when we do try to compete.

Of course, if Sharpe winds up being one of the best 3 players out of his draft and Scoot winds up being one of the best 3 players out of his draft... We'd probably be right on track...

I read that over and over on this board. You didn't belittle posters here when they said it, but you dislike it when I note that they said it. Did I hurt your feelings?
I doubt that you did read that on this board, but you're welcome to prove me wrong by linking a post that did.

Also, I said "nobody of any consequence". Nobody on this board matches that criteria.

I don't really care about crow or other insults. If they become championship contenders with what we have that would be awesome.

I think it would be a mistake to think we have enough assets on the roster to build a contender yet. That's a risk I'd rather not take yet.
I have a very chess oriented brain and I’ve evaluated this situation every which way and out. I respect people that actually think about things optimistically (why I tune out 97% of our fanbase currently)

people overlook our potl opportunities, current core including the potential of scoot/DA specifically, as well as the potential of cronin and Chauncey. That’s all I will say. I used to make these posts on realgm in the day under a different name and I would frequently check back in with my own posts.. (I only joined here cause I thought there were Blazer fans here which I have not found yet)

I don’t value anyone’s opinion over another generally speaking, I’ll just say my track record reveals that when everyone is down on the blazers - BUY, when everyone is up - sell. This is why I don’t care about Damian’s legacy. We got swept when it matters. Beautiful memories of big shots and longevity of that beautiful legend of consistency. We didn’t have depth or a gameplan so none of it mattered at the end of the day.

You don’t win with brute force but with years of careful investment, asset management and planning which the evidence shows this current franchise is capable of.

a lot of moving parts, just **** pessimism y’all never will win and your crow will be waiting for you. Sooner than later. Quote me now, quote me in a few months idc anymore. A lot of y’all would get fired for pulling olshey type moves, I’ll get fired for standing outside ranting and being right.

ps - this draft class will prove to be great, and everyone was down. Just another case example I’ll just point it out here now. Y’all begged the franchise to move on from the previous disaster, they did and did it well and y’all still aren’t happy! Look inside.

Yeah I didn't want to move on from Dame. I wanted to keep him. But the franchise didn't do enough to keep him here.

So here we are.

I don't want to start trying to win with guys who aren't good enough to win big. Scoot and DA may well be good enough to win big. Grant and Simons are not. But they are good enough to get us some wins against really bad teams. And that will cost us draft position.

Just blows my mind on here what people say about these people they don’t even know. I remember people on here calling Stotts a fucking idiot. Guy last night was calling Scoot a motherfucker. This person is saying scoot is a lazy and concited……. Simply because after 60 games he hasn’t lived up to their expectations during this franchises’ transition into tank mode.
Henderson has blown me away in one year with his maturity and demeanor. Quality kid raised the right way. Proud to have him represent this franchise. I’m giving him a couple seasons to get to where I think he should be. Regardless, I’ll root for him.
Once it’s a negative comment the negative Nancy’s in here will like that shit up. Are you surprised?

this place is not like it use to be, just a big shit fest these days and it’s run many good posters from here and we’re left with Negative Nancy’s trying to dominate this forum now worse than Blazers edge.

Your posts repeat this over and over, so you're trying to dominate.

I tried to dominate other posters? Ha ha. You just saw a few posters react in anger (against a poster, me) when they heard something negative (against a player, which is a big difference). Criticizing a player provoked them to make a poster, me, feel dominated and run away for a day. There's a big distinction between criticizing a player vs. insulting a poster.

One guy reacted like I criticized his best friend, almost as if he's here mainly to defend his friends on the team.

Analysis is mostly negative. It was my job for decades.

First off, I wasn't even talking about you in general so you can stop taking it personal.

Secondly, I don't complain about that as much as you guys post negative crap 24/7, and you got ripped apart for your thoughts on Scoot, which was quite frankly just laughable.

You guys complain and make false assumptions on here all the time but you have a issue with me calling out that junk you guys post like your little Scoot post? Go cry yourself a river bro.

I said the negativity is dominating this forum in general these days, sorry it was hard for you to understand. It's also facts this forum is not like it use to me, and many good posters are gone or just not posting anymore. And I'm not the only one that has mentioned that...

You gotta admit that post of yours was pretty bad. If I knew Scoot and was in a position to know better I would call you out on it also. As I would for anyone I knew personally.
You did come back and change the emphasis and make it more about the way many young players act so there is that.

I guess this thread will only get bumped when Scoot has a bad game or a bad stretch, but stay nice and quiet when he has a good game or stretch.

Moral of the story is we got to give Scoot years, like 2-4 years before we can judge him. We can't get too low when he had a bad stretch or too high when he is playing well.

But someone will bump this again when Scoot has a bad stretch again lol

It was against Ulm.

I think we just learned that Scoot would KILL IT in the German league
It was against Ulm.
Did you both read what I said?
I said we can’t get too high or too low when he is playing bad or good.

Yes it was against them.

but oh no, Camara shoot 5-15 against them? Lol

Did you guys see Scoots stats after post all star game for the rest of last year?

What teams were those against?

you two are just a example of being fickle as shit with a 21 year old Scoot.

Can’t even say he had a good game and played well and in control but rather poor cold water on it and say who it was against.

This surprises me like....not at all. We are currently in the most selfish time in recorded history. Jesus......the last 30 years gave us the selfie. The fucking selfie! If that doesn't scream, "It's all about me...", then nothing does.
Hey.....I buy tickets to games so that gives me a right to shove my disappointment in everyone's face. Lol. Really disappointed? Find something else. Let's just pick a random number.....let's say 100. After 100 times of saying this
team/direction/coach/owner/etc sucks. Here's a hint....wait for it...wait for it.......find something else that gives you want you want.

Since this is voting season, I'll make a rare comment. The only vote that truly counts, is your money. If you are spending money on a team that you are perpetually down on, what the hell does that indicate? If you spend nothing, but use this public forum to spray negative diarrhea, that's sad. Complaining on a forum, will never, ever, ever, ever, do a single thing to change the team you follow. Nothing.

Ok, enough of my worthless opinion. Carry on

We are so stacked, and so few realize it, and the crow will be served unexpected and right on time, and no your depressimism doesn’t affect the vibe! And no, your bandwagon support will not be impactful, and yes we see you fake fans, at times like this oh we do!

Were you a die hard fan when we drafted Oden?

I haven't spent a penny on the Blazers since they signed Carmelo Anthony.

Just out of curiosity, did you spend money when they had Ruben Patterson on the team?

Admittedly, I did. But I cut way back once I found out the truth. Started up again (with season tickets) when they burned the roster to the ground.

I don't go to the games, but I do have Comcast and they had ROOT. So essentially, I was spending money on the Blazers; meaning I have the privilege to complain...do I have that right?

I'll be honest, even if I lived completely in the free zone, I'd still complain about things I didn't like about the Blazers

I'm confused though....what's the difference between people complaining about the Blazers, vs people complaining about people complaining about the Blazers?

I dunno, but I'll tell you that I'm sick and tired of people kvetching about the whining over the complaining. I'm not sure what side that puts me on...

The do or don't spend money on the Blazers might have zero impact. The Blazers ownership is not a normal sports franchise ownership situation where the owner pays or gets cash from a team, or even reaps gains from the a high sale price of the team. I really have no idea what would motivate Jody to change any decisions with the Blazers. I also worry that if she does get that point and jump in to change something it will HURT the long term competitive nature of the team far more than help.

I think it hurts that both of our guards of the future could have really benefited from playing in college for at least a season.
I simply don't think the NBA should be drafting anybody straight out of high school. Nearly every player would be better off playing a couple years in college or overseas.

Especially now that they can be paid via NIL.

Players should be 2 years out of high school to be eligible for the draft.
