Once again, there is that word “expected”……. Curious why somebody would have such high “expectations” for a 19 year old rookie? Sounds like somebody believed the hype and wasn’t being realistic.

I don’t remember you or anyone else in this sub expecting for him to be this bad.

I have said for years, that a young rookie needs 2 years in the league before we really know how good he will be. I still believe it to be true. I get that there is not much else to talk about regarding the Blazers, but let's be honest most of us have no fucking clue how good /bad Scoot will end up being. These daily critiques are ridiculous.
We know how bad he can be just watch a game? The question is how good can he be which is unknown. Or look at stats. He has the worst true shooting percentage in the nba. I think even amongst 19 year old point guards in nba history his finishing is horrible.

I've heard variations of this since pre season, first it was the first week then 10 games, 20, 30 ect eventually it will be a full season then two and people might still be saying the same thing. hes been much worse than expected, i doubt he improves his finishing that much. Im hoping he can improve to atleast be an average starter in the nba.
Doubt in one hand, shit in the other, see which one weighs more.

We know how bad he can be just watch a game? I never said he has not played bad.

The question is how good can he be which is unknown. Yes that is what I said

Or look at stats: What do his stats have to do with the future?

He has the worst true shooting percentage in the nba. I think even amongst 19-year-old point guards in nba history his finishing is horrible
: Again his percentage right now is meaningless because young players tend to improve their shooting over time.

Ive noticed that when Scoot shoots he doesn't always lock on the rim visually. With jump shots off screens he catches jumps then looks for the rim. Watch all good shooters they are locked on the rim visually before they motion into jump and shoot.

It's kind of the same when he passes, isn't it? :)

Wearing contacts is a huge distraction. They can HURT. This hurries his passing, shooting, everything. He'll improve, but never be as good as he'd be if he wore armored glasses. Surgery...may have contributed to my brother going blind.

It's kind of mystery that he wers contacts and those goggles. I agree, why not prescription lenses in the goggles.

I wonder if Scoot would shoot any worse if he wore a welding mask

I see Poop Henderson was garbage AGAIN lmao

This guy should have been a late first rounder wtf
This is clearly a troll job, like 95% of your posts.

You noticed when others comment back at him he doesn’t reply to people? It’s a troll and we should all just ignore him as well and I bet you see his troll jobs less and less.

dont feed his trolling.

Go ahead then, make the case that a guy who is averaging 12 points, shooting 30% from 3 and about 5 assists a game, is "literally the worst player" in the NBA.

I'll take your answer off the air.

Scoot's RPM (Real Plus-Minus) is 402 out of 403 players in the ESPN database. There is literally one player in the entire NBA that he ranks ahead of in a rating designed to measure overall performance. The one player he ranks ahead of plays only 7.5 minutes per game, with only 15 games played, so likely the only reason Scoot is not literally dead last is Lindy Water's small sample size. Scoot has a -0.25 RPM Wins, compared to -0.06 for Lindy Waters (Hint: the lower the number, the worse). So yes, based on a widely used rating system designed to give a general idea of player performance, you can make a case that Scoot is the very worst player in the NBA.

Or, you can just forget the stats and watch the games. Anyone that understand basketball, and isn't a complete moron, can see how unbelievably terrible he is. The statistical analysis just verifies what should already be obvious.

If a player's past performance has literally no bearing on his future performance, then why doesn't a team draft me?

I won't write him off. He has shown flashes and maybe he'll click. I think everyone will be happy if he does and the NBA will be richer because of it but I think people who are eager to trade Simons away better think twice until Scoot can legitimately prove himself.

If you want to get into advanced stats, Scoot has performed historically poor for a Top 5 pick. RAPTOR, LEBRON, PER all show as such.

I'm talking Darko, Adam Morrison, Dante Exum, Alex Len, Nik Stauskas, Dragan Bender, Kris Dunn, and Anthony Bennett territory, if we're going by PER (Scoot was sitting at 7 PER last I checked). Similar players not in Top 5 were Jerryd Bayless and Killian Hayes. These are guys with 5-8 PER in their rookie years while having a decent sample size of playing time. It's very rare to have a long NBA career if you have a PER this low in your rookie season

So...maybe this is discussed in the game thread, but how come Scoot only got 8 minutes last night when he was actually a positive?

I think he got injured. It looked like he was hit in the face or the eyes and was visibly shaken. Then it looked like he was walking towards the locker room a moment later, but I don’t recall anything more being mentioned.
I’d like to know more as well.

He missed the rest of the game due to a "nasal contusion".

The Blazers very likely would not have won the game if Brogdon wasn't forced into big minutes.

He had a great start yesterday. Hopefully we see more of him finishing like that at the rim. It’s amazing to me that some of you can’t see his improvement. Yes, he has an abysmal start and his advanced stats are concerning, but the eye test paints a different picture, imo.

You must not have watched the game then - because he was great last night before having to leave.

I suspect that no matter whatever Scoot does, some posters will always take the side of he's a "bust". In this case, it's no different.

It's not worth the effort to engage in conversations with someone who is trolling. Especially given the odd choice for a name.

Seems to me we've got some always on the side that he'll be a bust and some always on the side that he's going to be a star.

Both seem pre-mature to me.

Yep. But when one side (he's a bust) is done just to ruffle feathers, it's annoying.

And utterly pointless.

He's a very young point guard. He hasn't been that bad. I didn't expect anything from him. I was shocked when people were complaining that he was going to push Dame out. Like, what 19 year old PG has ever been close to as good as Dame?

The expectations for Scoot were incredibly unrealistic.
