Hoping for: Gary Trent Jr

Would settle for: Martell Webster

Reality: Darius Miles

I just said it in another thread but I think he will be the greatest Canadian basketball player of all time. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a three time MVP, like it would take to surpass Nash in that one area. It means he'll be better than Steve Nash. He'll be a two way player where Nash wasn't. He'll have more ways to score on offense. He'll just be more dominant and more of a presence in games. So I'm not saying he'll necessarily be named MVP during his career (I'm not ruling that out either). My prediction is that he'll be a perennial all nba first teamer, lead the league in scoring at least one or two different seasons and be on an all defensive team at least once.

People might think this is a huge stretch and I very well could be very wrong but this kid has such fluid and explosive movement in every direction, he has great hands and feet, he has beautiful shot... I don't know what his BBIQ is like right now and that's the only thing that makes this prediction so iffy.

I think he is immature, has a questionable work ethic, and has no game time will to win experience.

He has all the physical gifts and an NBA body.

I do think he could not ask for a better mentor than Lillard. If he listens to Billups and Lillard he could be special.

But the question is, will he listen? Will he be satisfied being a roleplayer on a playoff-focused team?

I hope he's not satisfied with being a roleplayer on any team, that would be a bad sign. I hope he accepts the role he is initially given and pushes himself to the point where his role is increased throughout the season until the role he's playing is our second best player who can dominate on both ends. If that's not this season I hope it's the path he's taking this season into next season.

I should have been more clear, I hope he doesn't pout on the bench when he doesn't get minutes at first.

Hard to know what’s between the ears and behind the ribs
Exactly. I'm in the same place with evaluating him that I was before the draft. He sure looks good, but I'm reserving judgment until we're a few games in and I have some more context.

STOMP

Where did you hear this/ what are you basing this on?

The kid has some NBA moves. You don’t just wake up one day and casually stroke threes from the logo.

One of the videos on here mentioned his work ethic.

Sort of a joke tryin to determine as their is so little available about him, I say put this thread on ice and lets revisit after summer league.

I heard somewhere that he is a quiet kid but is a gym rat. That does not vibe with the questionable work ethic, but who knows.

I frankly can't tell what I think he will be until I see him in a summer league game. I believe I was sold on Simons because it seemed so easy for him way back in 2018, it took longer than expected but I seem to have called it than. Hope to do the same with Sharpe

Questionable work ethic? This kid has been in the gym day in and day out. The ethic is there. He has been doing nothing but work.

It is very rare to see someone like Sharpe who has both the talent/skill and the work ethic.

That's really the whole point. I want people to come on here and make predictions, sight unseen, so we can come back in 2... 3..... 4.....5 years from now and laugh at whoever was wrong

cool, different strokes

There is a big difference between spending time in the gym shooting from distance vs learning and developing individual skills to broaden and strengthen his overall game.

Doesn't dribble well with his left hand.

.333 3pt shooter
.600 FT shooter

Those numbers are at least 1.5 years old. We have no idea how much he has progressed in those areas.

We'll soon see.

Also since every year, I predict the Blazers to go 82-0 in the regular season and win the championship I'm hoping that this will be the ultimate reverse jinx by saying he's the next Darius Miles.

Earlier i said:

Best case: Brad Beal
Worst case: Malik Monk

Safe bet for me is about the middle of that. Starter/ borderline all star.
