Yes, I live in Toronto too. And VC is on nobody's mind until the Raps actually face the Nets. If you can't recognize the huge difference from when he left to now, then I don't know what to say. Booing him has become a habit more than an expression of genuine hatred. We just don't care about him anymore.

Also, if you're pointing to RealGM as a representation of the Raptors fanbase then all I can do is laugh.

That works if you consider the "VC is insignificant" point to be an insult. It isn't. It's just a response to idiots who perceive any negative opinion against their favourite player to be some sort of massive conspiracy.

I post a video showing Raptor fans gathering around a studio crew screaming to the top of their lungs chiding Carter.

You respond with this mind boggling response as if you've never witnessed a game where Carter played at the Air Canada Centre.

Carter receives scorn in a packed arena, in the studio and in the media etc. That covers a pretty large part of the Raptor fan base. And you're tell me it's mostly limited to a few morons who get on TV? I'm the one lacking perspective here? GTFOH!

You still have failed to demonstrate that it represents the entire fan base.

You posted two videos that don't support your thesis, but are simply anecdotal evidence. A few fans screaming to get on TV and a full arena of people that have a vested interest in seeing Vince wilt under the pressure again.

Additionally, what they do when Vince visits the arena isn't representative of how they feel about him day in and day out. Game day is game day.

I can't believe you are continuing to argue this.

If the Raptors fan base thought Carter to be insignificant then he wouldn't be getting the treatment he does every time he comes to town to play a game. The kind of treatment Carter gets is not a normal occurrence at all. They have a vested interest in seeing other teams lose and other opponents struggle but they don't give the kind of response to those players or teams like they do with Carter. It's not even close.

It's part of sports to give a former franchise player, if he left on a bad note, a hard time. No one walks around Toronto going "Man, I still hate VC, I hate him so god damn much".

I'm tired of you Nets fans fucking overgeneralizing everything that happens in Toronto. No one cares about Vince, and if you think they do, you're not to bright. When he comes to town, we give him a hard time cause it's fucking funny. Same way Alfredsson gets yelled at in Toronto for mocking Sundin. It's a part of sports bud.
 
I don't agree that Carter is insignificant. I feel to this team, he is very significant. He is looked at as a veteran leader, someone who's been in the league for a decade, and who can teach players. He's put up impressive numbers, but hasn't won anything, but that still can't make someone a bad teacher.
The fact that he was there at the summer league not just watching, but in the huddles and on the sidelines shouting out things really speaks about his character.
I'm not a huge VC fan, but I have 100% respect for him because of reasons like that.
In the end, I don't care if he wins a title or not. It would be nice if he does, but if he doesn't, so be it.

Also, Chutney is wrong about Raptor fans only thinking about Vince when the Raptors and Nets meet. The Raptor fan base has a HUGE online presence and throughout the years whenever something negative pops up regarding Carter it is a point of discussion amongst Raptor fans. And when the Nets and Raptors do meet things really heat up. However, thing have cooled off compared to before but it still exists. Chutney's statement about "We just don't care about him anymore" is not true at all.

I agree, some people dislike him or are unimpressed by him because they feel that he's not earning his paycheck. Even if this is true, he's still putting up solid numbers and will be a good leader for the young guys. Now, is he significant to Raptor fans? I think most fans have gotten over him and boo him just because he's a former player who left on a bad note and they might be doing it for the fun (I think King Shake said this) Of course, there are some fans in Toronto who would consider him significant but i think it's slowly dying out.

Is your source RealGM for stuff about Carter? Broseph, no one on this forum gives two shits about VC. We just boo him and mess with him cause it's a part of sports.

But they aren't just booing him. They're chanting a not-so-nice phrase rather emphatically, which seems to indicate they still aren't too fond of Mr. Carter. Whenever I'm at a Nets game, I always boo the opponent. But I never chant the way Raps fans do to Vince (unless of course Alonzo is on the court).
 
Because VC was a huge franchise player for us and the way he went out is different than say, if Delfino left and went to lets say LA. They wouldn't boo him, because he is just Delfino. However, Carter was a big player for us and he left in a bad way, so Toronto fans just give him a hard time.
