<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">While we're on vilified ex-Raptors, how about Vince Carter?

Remember how people here used to kill him for taking too many three-pointers? Well, he merely took 20 of them this week ? IN ONE GAME!

He was 9for20 for New Jersey against Memphis on Monday, the nine makes was a Nets franchise record, the 20 attempts was one shy of the NBA record held by another ex-Raptor, Damon Stoudamire, who fired up 21 for Portland in 2005.

"I'll tell you what, you go home sometimes and feel guilty," Carter said. "Twenty threes? It's good for the (ego), but you won't see that anymore.

"That's a lot of threes. That's a lot of shots, period."

Stop laughing.</div>

Carter slams Kobe about scoring 81 points and not being a team player then jacks up 20 3 point attempts. Who's the one not sharing the rock. damn. 20? Sometimes is makes me wonder about Carter and his ego.

I'm not that mad because we were winning the game by a good margin. He was merely attempting to break the 3 pt record. I'm sure if the game was close he would of stopped.

He did make 9 of them, so I dont see anything wrong with it.

Personally, i have no problem with it. Its him busting on Kobe about not sharing the rock then doing the same thing. You dont jack up 20 3 point attempts sharing the ball.

Carter likes to make remarks about other peoples games, when he does the exact same thing.

I agree, and 9 for 20 is a pretty good 3 pt %.

I think no one can slam kobe for scoring 81, his team was down and he brought them back by himself to win the game.

as for the 3s, he was making them, they were blowing them out, he started 5/5 and noticed he was hot, and so did his teammates.

He has a good point. Kobe wins the game the for the Lakers with 81 points, and Vince and says how he isn't being the best role model for the kids. And now he shoots twenty threes. It really wouldn't matter if he hit all of them, it's the fact that he put down Kobe like that.

20 threes was alot, but atleast we got the win.

I have no problem with Carter shooting the ball...so long as Kidd or Jefferson are ones passing it to him.

^^ why does it matter who passes it to him? Marcus Williams, Eddie House, Adams, etc.

I was making that point that someone has to shoot....not everyone can always pass.

he didnt say anything about kobe that was bad imo, all he said is that kids are gunna watch him score 81 and not kids are gunna try to go out and score more than play as a team (which some kids did with that one girl scoring like 100+ in a game right after)

It's funny how only you "me against the world" Kobe fans actually fell for the media's attempt to take his words out of context. He never once says anything negative about Kobe or the accomplishment, just expressed his concern over the fact that young kids may try and mimic the feat.

Of course, certain arrogant fans and media had to take offense to such a harmless remark.</div>

But dude, he took twenty threes, if he's so concerned about kids trying to score 81 points, why on gods green earth would he take 20 threes? Granted he did shoot 50%, but still.

The 81 point thing wasn't bad for kids cause Kobe had to do what he had to do to get his team to win the game.

The 20 three's wasn't that bad either. The Nets were winning by like 20 and VC was shooting lights out so it didn't really matter if he tried to break the record.

Kobe was efficient as well during his 81 point game, shooting (28-46) 61% from the field, and 7-13 (54%) from 3 point land, and 18-20 FT (90%) with only 3 TOs.

Carter did also say in the article that you won't see that again, I think he himself knows taking 20 three's is an extreme amount, so s'all good.

I'd have to agree and say 9-20 from 3PT is alright.

I'd rather take 20 assists though.

I don't remember Carter slamming Kobe over the 81 points. Though he did critique himself for this game -- he essentially admitted that he should never take that many threes.

He did actually. This is what he said about Kobe's 81: "The only bad thing about it is that younger kids, whose minds are easily warped, are going to think, 'Ohhh! I am going to go out there and do it instead of (honoring) the team concept first .That is what is missing in the game, guys understanding how to play as a team."

He's not criticizing Kobe. He's saying that young kids trying to emulate that style of play is an unfortunate side effect. Sometimes it's necessary to take over games, but young kids might think it's always ok to try to play that way. He's absolutely correct

While I agree in that making 9 of 20 three's is a pretty decent performance, he probally shouldnt have taken 20 three's which I think is where the problem may lie for Nets fans.

He only took that many because of the record, they had the game in hand and once he started missing he told mark jackson he was done shooting them lol.

If Carter was trying to break some records, he only needed 4 more 3s to beat the highest number of 3 point FGs made in nba history.

Currently Kobe and Donyell Marshall hold the record at 12 3pt FGs made. I wonder if we would be hearing different things if Carter made 13 3 pters instead of 9.
