I was throwing out the idea that Ant and #7 for Franz was something Orlando would at least think about.
Can't see anyway they would consider sending out Franz with Ant being the main piece they get back.

Makes so much more sense for them to add Ant to those two and give us youth/picks.

I am sure they would prefer to get Ant for just draft picks. But I would not do that. Ant and Franz's replacement is a fair trade.
I like Franz but it's not like he is an all-star......yet

I can't waith for Scoot and Shaedon next season.

I have a feeling we will be very active this summer, pre, during, post draft

Do you think Ant is an all-star or something?

Franz has been in the league 3 years vs Ants 6 so has way more upside, and is a much better defender.

It's nuts that some Blazers fans stiill think we can trade the 4th best player of a last in the west 21 win team for the 2nd best player who is younger with more upside of a 47 win team.

Yeah, I think that we all understand that. The discussion however was about what we could add along with Ant to get value back. I personally think #7 has value depending on who Orlando likes. They are a lot better than the Blazers but I don't think they are a contender yet, so they might be willing to be patient since their star is only 21.

But Orlando is just one example.

I think Orlando comes up so often because there just aren't many teams that could use a player like Ant (I was thinking Dallas but they went out and got a much better version of Ant in Kyrie). He needs to be on a team with longer, defensive-capable guards. Orlando has 6'5 Suggs and 6'4 Fultz. And penciling in Ant as the starting PG works in Orlando because Banchero and Wagner are both capable of running offense and combine to average over 9 assists

there is also the reality that Orlando's roster is quite unbalanced. All of the consistent impact and scoring punch comes from the front court. The lack of scoring from guards was their undoing in the playoffs. They couldn't come close to matching opposing back courts.

the problem is that Wagner has way more value than Ant. He has length and versatility that apply to both ends of the floor. Adding a 7th pick to Ant won't persuade Orlando to consider Wagner as the outgoing player. If Portland had Wagner and Orlando had Ant, no way any Blazers fan would trade Wagner for Ant and the 7th pick in this draft.

so you have to start moving down the roster to find matching salary. WCJ is the obvious target, but he also obviously has some warts, especially his ability to stay healthy. He's only averaged playing in 54-55 games/year; that's not good (although, Ayton has only averaged 59).

Agreed which is why I think we should just keep Ant, unless for some reason we draft someone similar. (Sheppard) But I think it is more likely we draft someone who can eventually replace Grant, whose salary is much more of an issue than Ant's.

We really can eat whatever least valuable salary Orlando wants to cut - maybe that's Isaac expiring deal. Maybe they use some cap space. It's better we eat the worst salary in any trade to maximize the value of other assets we get back.

But then we need to get multiple young pieces back - draft picks / Black, etc. that's the sort of deal that makes sense for both teams. Orlando is going to want to add Ant as a 4th best player or something - not have him try to become their second best player.

I'm ok with keeping Ant if we trade away Brogdon. I'd look to trade every vet on this team - Grant Brogdon Ant Ayton Thybulle Timelord Reath. But most likely only 1 or 2 will have worthwhile offers this summer so to start the season we keep the others.

It's a place where you can try the things that you have been working on - aka shooting.
You most certainly might be correct but I just don't see them putting him out there for that? Going up against guys playing rat ball to show what they have so they might get a chance to play in the league doesn't sound like a smart move at all.

simons, grant & ayton will likely stand in their way, cause these guys want shots and it will slow down youngins development

in game practice is the best possible practice, let them play with freedom and through mistakes

sharpe will be in his 3rd season, he has to make a leap, you dont want to push him down in the pecking order

he shouldnt, theres nothing to gain by playing in the summer league

players are bad, selfish, reckless, he should spend time practicing individually until pre-season starts and then obviously practice within the team and play actual games
Yep. I can see an undrafted rookie diving after a loose ball and taking out Scoots knee or something like that. Summer league is a glorified tryout for whatever team you happen to be playing for but even more than that players know coaches from multiple teams are watching and there is a chance they get a spot on another roster because of what they showed in Summer League.

Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren played in SLC last season.

:hoops:

It's super important Scoot doesn't miss any game with an injury this year. 1 win for the Blazers record could be the difference in making the ?

Let's put bubble wrap around Scoot this whole off-season.

He probably shouldn't practice either. Maybe he just shouldn't leave his house. Not certain if he should get out of bed, I mean what if he slips?

Didnt Pryzbilla get injured slipping in the shower?

Didnt Pryzbilla get injured slipping in the shower?

wasn't it a re-injury or something like that?

I remember Mike Barrett going into detail about it (also for some reason I have a memory of MB talking about Joels testicles being swollen up to the size of a grape fruit or something...maybe that wasn't Joel)

Didnt Pryzbilla get injured slipping in the shower?

I got up one morning and while simply stepping into my underwear, I threw my back out. Great...so now I have to stretch before attempting to dress?

one summer evening I was in the kitchen barefoot. I was making something, don't remember what...wasn't paying a lot of attention and when I was looking in the cabinet for something, I accidentally knocked a sharp knife off the counter and it stuck in the top of my foot. I screeched much profanity on high volume and bent over to pull the knife out but before I got there the weight of the knife tipped it over and it fell, making the gash bigger, bloodier, and more painful. I picked up the knife and straightened up slamming the back of my head into the corner of the cabinet door I left open in a pain/panic mode. I was bleeding from two wounds, raging and cross-eyed, and was headed for a first aid kit but my wife started screaming at me "don't you dare fucking bleed on the carpet you idiot". WTF? So she had to get the first aid supplies while I pressed paper towels to my foot and the back of my head at the same time. That's not easy by the way

Trail Blazers center Joel Przybilla slips in shower, reinjures right knee
  • Published: Mar. 07, 2010, 6:09 p.m.

By
Trail Blazers center Joel Przybilla on Saturday reinjured his surgically-repaired right knee and will require another surgery, the team said Sunday.

Przybilla reinjured the knee Saturday morning when he slipped while entering the shower at his home in Milwaukee, Wisc.

He flew to Portland on Saturday and had a magnetic resonance imaging test Sunday morning at the office of team doctor Don Roberts. The MRI showed a tear of the patella tendon that was repaired.

Przybilla, 30, ruptured his right patella tendon in a Dec. 22 game at Dallas. He was 10 weeks post-operation and had just started to walk without a brace.

The team said there is no timetable for his return. After his original injury and surgery, the team estimated a return at 6-to-8 months. But a source said because this is a re-injury, the timetable for his return can be more difficult to determine. Training camp is seven months away.

The injury all but guarantees Przybilla will exercise his option to return next season to the Blazers at more than $6 million. Przybilla had been deciding whether to opt-out and test his worth on the free agent market.

A 10-year veteran, the 7-foot-1 Przybilla was a reliable rebounder and one of the team’s best defenders. An established veteran in his sixth season in Portland, Przybilla was also an important voice in the locker room and was voted by his teammates as a co-captain along with Brandon Roy.

Przybilla averaged 4.1 points and 7.9 rebounds in 30 games this season. He has 593 blocks with the Blazers, ranking him sixth on the all-time list, one behind Clyde Drexler.
