Yep, Durant is a wonderful offensive player. However, I'm reminded of another draft--in 1956. Two players stood out from that draft--Elgin Baylor and Bill Russell. Elgin got all the individual awards, Bill got all the rings. Something tells me the Celts were cool with the way that draft turned out.

Obviously, there were a few diehards still around, but back then they probably had 1/4 of the local fanbase that they had the day after the KG trade, and 1/10 of the one they had after beating the Lakers in the finals.

I'm not blaming you ffs! I was pointing out how stupid it was for anyone under the Celtics banner (or any banner for that matter) to now be putting down Portland for that pick.

I thought Bob Ryan was going to cry on ESPN every time he came on to talk about it.

Can't blame him. Rondo/Pierce/Jefferson/Oden would have been an extremely solid core.

talk about over reacting. You always take a potential franchise center when he's available and 90% of the NBA fanbase thought Oden was that guy. He can still be that guy if he's healthy. Hell it's only his 2nd year in the league.

The Media has created this knee-jerk reaction to talent and this is an obscene instance of it happening on that site.

Greg Oden doesn't compare to Bill Russell. Bill averaged 14 ppg and 19 rpg in his rookie season. In his first playoff game, he grabbed 31 rebounds.

Greg will probably never average 19 rpg no matter how many years it takes him to recover from the surgery.

Not to mention that most of the competition back then was of 6 foot caucasion guys running around in tight shorts. Some how I think the competition is better now.
