One thing that I'm a little confused about, the "assassination" attempt on DJT lead to the death of someone. I don't recall there being this much vitriol.

Theres definitely some very easy conspiracy theories... not saying Trump did anything to make it happen... but the timing is oddly convenient.

I just hope his family is okay. That is the worst. He brought it all on himself, but now they are having to feel all the loss for it.

This was a hit by a really good shot from 200yds. The shooter wasn't looking at anything but his target before taking his shot. Reality tv folks want these events to be sensational or dramatic like an episode of the Black List but we don't know the motive...given his public exposure it could be any number of things that might cause someone to hire an assassin. Conspiracy plants usually come out instantly after a shooting so everyone keeps the stories straight but this one they don't seem to have a script so it could just be a whack job being a whack job.

Here's my conspiracy theory. The shooter wasn't a good shot. He missed his target.

He was actually shooting at a guy in the crowd that he'd caught boning his girlfriend last weekend.

100% Speculation:

I wouldn't put it past one of those Q wackos to do this because of Charlie's 180 on the Epstein files. Some of those people are really pissed about that... And Charlie (from what I recall) was pretty shameless and public about wanting the files released until Trump flip-flopped on it so Charlie supported not releasing them.
 
As an outsider, the conversation here illustrates so well how American society has become so polarized and divided.
The sad thing about it, I can't think of any solution or reality in which things could get better..
There is no discussion about finding commonalities and learning to live side by side with those who think different - only further entranchment in each sides own views.
IMO the future looks very bleak.

Perfectly highlights how fucked we are... he had literally so many reasons it could happen.

It shouldn't have happened to anyone. Not the Democrats in Minnesota, not to Charlie Kirk. They all should still be alive.

This is a systemic problem with our politics. I did a lot of self evaluating about my initial comment (that was deleted and I apologized for multiple times) and evaluated how and why I was so angry and said it. Learned a lot from it.

I do wish others did the same thing. But none of us can control how others react. Just ourselves. So we need to own our side of the street.

RIP Charlie Kirk and my best to his family who should have no reason to mourn him when he was only 31. :(

This shit has to stop. Theres just no leadership to do that.

Did you read what Biden, Obama, Ptitzker, Sanders among others wrote? All condemned violence. There is no common opinion with fascists but one side condemns violence while one side cheers it.

My point was that this view of 'one side condems and one side cheers' proves the lack of commonality and trenching deeper and deeper reaching places there is no coming back from.
You can't say look at Biden etc.. to prove a point. Because the people on the other side will say the same and point you to look at the MSNBC reporter that got fired etc..
The reality is people need to look and ack both sides are currently F***ed as both sides become more and more extreme.
Division galore. The sunsetting of an empire.

Um do you happen to read the things some people on the left are writing right now? Start with this forum lol. There isn’t any one side who can claim the high road. Right wing fanatics are claiming extremist wokeism and declaring war on…nobody because there isn’t even a fucking shooter or motive. And Leftist fanatics are jerking off to a gore video of a man being violently murdered in front of his wife and children.
We are cooked as a country. People’s brains are just gone.
 
Honestly not sure what you mean. Should I ignore the fact that Charlie Kirk literally said I should be burned at the stake? I oppose political assassination. I don't cheer or joke about it. I know of no prominent person who can very roughly be described as "my side" of politics who does. Unfortunately those on the other side do.

I can't pretend there are two different sides when one of the sides literally wants me dead.

I once knew a nutcase who tried to say Jewish partisans on World War II were morally equivalent to Nazis because they both killed people. Seriously.

Sometimes both sides are not the same and I can't pretend they are because it's not nice.
 
I agree the sides are not the same. But they are the same in one (and most important facet IMO); They are both sure of their righteousness.
Conclusion: Conflict cannot be averted.
How do you resolve conflicts?
You either 'win' and eliminate the other side (or be eliminated for that matter), or learn to live together via finding commonalities and joint interests.

You reckon that a part of the American society wants you dead ("literally said I should be burned") - how many in the American society think that way? 10%? 30%? 50%? more?
If you ask me - If you live in a reality where people want you dead - you either learn to co-exist via actively pursuing commonality and joint interests. Or accept conflict and live by the sword. Your call.
America is indeed reaching a tilting point and the outcome is bleak as it seems to me the polarization will just keep growing and no one is actually trying to stop it.
