once the temperatures return to normal, and cooler heads prevail, these people will find their next cause to get hell bent for.
People forgot about the bounty scandal. I still can’t believe that. They get over every outrageous thing.

What bugs me (and I'm not discounting what could have happened) is people getting so pissed off at some of the stupidest things (again, not saying this is a stupid thing).

Like, know what's worth getting upset over.

I'm going to the beach tomorrow, hitting up Chinook Winds, everyone is going to be concerned about the owner after I win enough to buy the team.
Sheeeet, if you can convince Jody to accept dog biscuits as payment, you deserve to own the team.

The thing about this is that there are at least two possible truths. We know that some pretty wild sexual stuff went on. We know that Billups maintains that his involvement was only with consensual sex. We know the woman claims that she did not agree to all that happened and says Billups was involved in a rape.

Given all of that we can either choose to believe the woman’s story or Billups’ version. Those who choose to believe Billups can point to the facts that no charges were filed, multiple vettings have been done and employers have chosen to believe that his story bears up. But even in the light of all of that, there’s still the possibility that his involvement crossed the line and he committed an act that could be classified as rape. We had pretty much the same choice in the Kobe incident and, as Blazers fans, we were a lot less inclined to cut him any slack in the way that we may be willing to do with Billups. I find that troubling, but I also find it troubling to rule someone out simply on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations.

So here’s my general position as of today: I think it is likely that Billups’ story is true based on multiple reviews by potential employers and due to the fact that there have been no other challenges of inappropriate behavior on his part in the near quarter century that has elapsed. But I may be wrong. I will choose to support the hiring unless something comes to light that proves otherwise. As a fan, I hope Billups is a great success.

There’s so much irony in all of this.

One minute, we’re convicting someone of rape though he was never charged. The next, we’re discussing our fucked up judicial system that convicts those in the court of public opinion, is rigged against minorities/POC’s, etc. I’m not arguing any of the many sides. You can understand people’s confusion, though. I don’t know how to feel and I certainly don’t feel comfortable sharing a real opinion without being tried and judged myself.
