So not at Olshey?
not from anything I've read.....Nurk hints at Olshey and his team option contract but Dame just kept it simple...said he threw a couple names out he liked and twitter fans came after him....it's fucked up from my view but Dame isn't happy for a lot of reasons...doesn't mean he's bailing on his own franchise...just means he's fueled to take it up a notch and putting the NBA on notice that he's not waiting for someone else to change things....he's going to lead that charge. Dame no doubt is talking with Chauncey everday right now but people forget how attached Dame was to Terry Stotts....he said he loved Terry and will miss him. That doesn't resonate around this msg board with many folks but it does with me....Dame was bummed when the traded Ed Davis and Will Barton..he'll get over it. Workout videos immediately after the playoff exit show Dame getting after it with a vengeance....I think we're about to see Dame become more MJ and Kobe like in his killer mentality moving forward and I pity the fool who tries to stop him...Chauncey is the perfect guy to help Dame get there. Dame is smart enough to realize that as well....I don't think Olshey is much of a factor in Dame's decision making process at all. Olshey is the guy on the hot seat from here on out.

Which he never did. Aldridge left as a free agent. Dame is just starting a 4-year contract.

I don’t find it at all to be a similar situation but if you do, that’s cool.
Aldridge was always going to leave that summer. It was never even a question. He was already gone in the playoffs.

So I’m a bit confused. I promise I’m trying to keep up, but just can’t seem to.

What is Dame upset about?
I asked this same exact question yesterday. I am not sure. I ***think*** it’s because he wanted the team to intervene and protect him from fan backlash about wanting Billups. Otherwise I have no idea

On aside note, the average WNBA player makes $70,000 a year and coaches $71,000.

Looking it up, I found this gem, which I assumed was satire but apparently is not and is in fact from a women’s basketball blog.

The surprise to me is that astronauts make such a little salary.

https://queenballers.club/basketball/wnba-salary

A spot in the WNBA is one of the hardest jobs in the world to get. For perspective, there are more professional astronauts in the world (560) than WNBA players (144)! And seasoned astronauts earn an annual salary upwards of $144,566 by the way. Yet, these elite female athletes are barely compensated relative to the value they’re delivering, with the support of very little marketing.
It’s a business. The WNBA and their compensation. I do not understand why people don’t get this (not talking about you, but this article or whatever). Every sport brings in money and pays people accordingly. Now, If the WNBA is raking in more money than I thought then yes, these women are underpaid. Since I do not know a single WNBA fan personally, I doubt they are just underpaying their employees. Sue me.

I think we underestimate how much of the white noise around Dame is coming from players like Lebron lobbying for him to move to "their" big market team...because that's what they'd do...Dame has addressed this forever....come to Portland and win with me here....that's always been his response. The Knicks, Bulls and Laker markets are pounding the Lillard is coming drum 24/7

Media keeps saying problems with Dame and front office.

I've been to a WNBA game once and the ball echoed when they dribbled....it's like a G league crowd

It runs on subsidies from the NBA and is likely a tax write-off loss for the owners in the WNBA. It doesn’t turn a profit and ESPN/ABC basically air their games at a loss.

I watch it sometimes and am actually a big fan of women’s NCAA.

I don’t believe he tweeted that or included that in his column…I could be wrong though

*refuses to do research due to laziness caused by heat stroke*
he did it on camera...espn I believe or nba.com...one of the major sites...a woman interviewed him...I would never attempt to learn about anything from that social cancer they call twitter.

They just said on trail blazer courtside that they had an extensive look into the whole billups situation and also had a third party firm investigate the charges as well.

I was told by those in the know at BE that there was a biased investigation and it wasn’t independent.

Are you saying they were making things up? No way! Lol

I love watching the women’s World Cup. I will watch college basketball, and tennis - Serena is one of the top athletes ever. But the WNBA just isn’t fun. Atmosphere, the level of play altogether just sucks.

Has anyone mentioned that the press conference tomorrow is the first live media session?

I still think it’s gonna be grade A entertainment by the way. No way Olshey conducts himself like a humble, non egotistical maniac.

I was listening to Gary Trent Jr and Hoodie on the Raptors season ending interviews and Nick Nurse and I've gotta say the Canadian media is so damned refreshing compared to Portland...polite...first name basis, relaxed and supportive...nobody feeding opinions into questions like Quick did asking Stotts if he was afraid to lose his job...that's why our front office can be on edge in interviews...I can't blame them for being guarded with the rumor mill that surrounds our team I hope Chauncey doesn't have to answer personal questions about himself that have negative connotations...Brooke, Casey Aaron Fentris and Kerry Eggers are great...not aimed at them at all

pay me half of what these guys are making and you can ask me whatever you want while I’m strapped to a lie detector

As a member of the press I would assume they know that while they can ask any question they want, they also have many days ahead to work with these people. You want to have a good working relationship. I would expect the harsher questions to come from outside media - people who don’t have to deal with these guys on a daily basis. I worked in the media dept for a team. They (team) don’t like you and they will make your life hard.

I'd be a terrible beat reporter....I'm not that interested in backtracking after a game is in the bag.

Brooke said it was much better in Portland than when she worked for the Pacers...more friendly and less detached but I feel like the Raptors crew everyone is smiling and leaves with a smile which I like being around...I'm not a fan of high strung confrontational media sessions

When is the press conference? I’m guessing 11am pst?

Sorry, but a reporter who asks "Hey Derrick Jones, why do you yell when you dunk?"... "Hey Robert, is it Stotts' fault?"... isn't great. (*cough* Fentress *cough*)

Our media asked the softest of questions up until this season. This season was different.

you forgot the Felton era when Nate was fired, Oden and Roy left and Luke Babbitt chalupas were the thrill of the game...Quick was an insufferable asshole all season this year and it wasn't cute or entertaining or informative...just snark for snark's sake

I'm looking forward to Dwight throwing some real hard hitting questions Olshey's way tomorrow.

Better yet, hope he provides the same critical commentary that he brought in the press conferences last season. Why do I suspect it won't happen though?

I just wish sports, in general, would get rid of the stupid in-game questions with the head coach. Especially in the NBA when the game is going on. Let them focus on the game. The questions are always idiotic.
