Chris Paul just referred to Chauncey Billups as a big brother figure. Where is the outrage?
Not a hater--just acknowledging how I feel.
I would LOVE for Nurk to play at an all-star level. If he returns to Bosnian Beast mode, nobody will be happier than me. But he'll have to show it before I can believe it, and even if, I'll probably still have niggling doubts in the back of my mind.
Sadly, some men seem to think if they watch women's basketball their penises will fall off or something. I had one guy tell me the women "don't turn him on". Hey, the male players don't turn me on. I just like the game.
Would love Nurk to work on a sky hook. He has a little hook he's used, but a Kareem -style Hook would be fabulous & unstoppable.

Assumes women play a lower version. Yet many of the same people watch college ball.

I enjoy all levels of sports. I used to coach hs softball pitching and they are very good with fundamentals and execution, very disciplined. Love to watch hs & college fastpitch. I enjoy watching the women track & field events. And I do watch a few WNBA games every year and really enjoy womens college hoops. Girls/women soccer is fantastic!Assumes women play a lower version. The "Jane Doe" that Chauncey and others allegedly raped was not exactly the most credible witness, AFAICT. She reported that she was assaulted to the police the day after the alleged rape, after the medical exam and rape kit. A grand jury was assembled at the time to investigate, and ultimately criminal charges were NEVER filed against Billups or any of the other alleged rapists. Was that a good call? I dunno. But, it was the call made at the time, with fresh memories and testimonies.
So, half a year later, "Jane Doe" filed a civil case. Because Antoine Walker had money at the time and fought it more rather than settling (likely a precursor to Walker ending up with broke), there were additional case filings where it appeared that the alleged victim was a nutjob and there may not have even been a rape. But, rape shield law applies even in civil suits, so you have "Jane Doe" whose past activities cannot generally be considered. Fighting that takes not just money but time, and NBA careers are short.
Clearly, Chauncey was no choir boy. He wasn't making good choices as his basketball star was on the rise. Hell, he stole video rental coupons from U-Colorado's bookstore the year before his gang bang action here. But, settling a civil suit, especially in the absence of criminal charges, doesn't make him (or anyone else) a rapist. Participating in a gang bang that turned into accusations of rape might have made him reconsider his life choices even if he didn't rape anyone,
We weren't there and can't know. The parties involved likely can't talk about specifics due to the settlement terms.
Deal with it.
Well articulated.I love what Nurk is capable of on the court, and love the impact he has on our defense. I too believe he can play all-star caliber basketball.
I just don't trust him.
I don't trust him to stay healthy. I don't trust him to stay out of foul trouble. I don't trust him to stay engaged all throughout a game. I don't trust him to not let opposing players, or referees, or unfortunate circumstances mess with his head. I don't trust him to put the ball in the basket when he is one foot away from it. And I don't think I'm alone in those sentiments.
As good as the guy can be, I don't think the team can rely upon a player that they can't trust.
from what ive heard, he said sheed will come to visit, but will not be part of the teamDid anyone listen to the Chauncey interview with Brooke? I read somewhere he mentioned in there that Sheed would be coming to work with Nurk? Did anyone actually hear that? I can't get the interview to load so I can listen to it.
Thank you. I finally got it to load, he said Sheed will definitely visit and support him, but that is all he said. I know Sheed just took a job coaching a HS basketball team in North Carolina.from what ive heard, he said sheed will come to visit, but will not be part of the team

I just wish someone asked Chauncey questions about his philosophy and vision. Brooke sorta touched on it, but still nothing remotely close to what Terry gave answers to 9 yrs ago."Not over-dribbling, dribbling slows everything down."
LOL, oh Terry, if you only knew at that time.
This was great to listen to after 9 years. I think his philosophy is pretty intact. Give the guys some structure, but above all else, give your best players the freedom to do what they do best.
It's easy to see why Dame thrived under Terry. Dame needs that freedom. But I think he let CJ and Aldridge do too much of what they do best. In CJ's case that's dribbling the air out of the ball, and in Aldridge's case it was letting him shoot 20 fadeaways each night. He should have realized neither player was good enough to earn that level of freedom.
Also, clearly needs to give more structure to the non-star players, on both ends. That shit was not gonna fly in the playoffs.
Mentioned accountability a lot. Hopefully the stars will be held accountable for screw ups. accountability is nice. we needed that.Mentioned accountability a lot. Hopefully the stars will be held accountable for screw ups. Don't think they were under Terry.
Yeah, it's impossible to say for sure since he's never been a head coach before. He probably doesn't even know what kind of system he will run since the roster will probably go through a major overhaul.accountability is nice. we needed that.
but it's hardly an identity for the team.
Will it though? Do we really trust Neil to actually make that happen?Yeah, it's impossible to say for sure since he's never been a head coach before. He probably doesn't even know what kind of system he will run since the roster will probably go through a major overhaul.
I think next seasons roster will look significantly different…..for one reason or another. Will it though? Do we really trust Neil to actually make that happen?
I think next season’s roster will look almost identical. Few changes. Remember, it wasn’t the roster that was the problem right? No need to change it then.I think next seasons roster will look significantly different…..for one reason or another.
