Here's the deal:
1. Olshey wanted Billups all along.
2. Olshey saw the accusation as a minor inconvenience.
3. Olshey treated it as such.
4. Y'all seem to agree.

True, but you have to try. Maybe they did, but if they didn't, that's pretty half-assed.
I disagree. There is no benefit reaching out to the accuser (or her lawyer).
People's memories are terrible at being completely accurate. Memories change and morph over time (and get less accurate).

The research should have been a thorough review of all the court documents, police reports/notes, etc. that were created in 1997.

Chauncey is not the reason you don't like Olshey...I think you're making wild assumptions....Chauncey is married to his high school girlfriend who was around when this occured...he's talked with his daughters about it and his wife...if anyone is going to give him more than a "minor inconvenience" ..it's the four women in his family...you can stir this shit up as many times as you like but it's beginning to feel like your outrage is winning over your perspective...my two cents...I heard a man speaking some heart felt truth when he said it changed his life and he learned not to have the wrong people around him...he didn't flinch, smirk, give any hint of fear around it....it's time to accept this man is our coach...or walk the walk and not support the franchise. I'm now solidly believing what my common sense tells me about this case...if you're truly morally outraged...you have every right to boycott the Blazers.

Yep, I agree, if you cannot support the new coach the gm and and have strong feelings about it, find another team or sport to support. I personally couldn't be a fan of a team when everyday I struggled with the leadership.

go away if you’re so pressed. No one will miss you.

I can't stand Olshey but I've been a Blazers fan for decades before Olshey and will be decades after. I don't think I should be a fair weather fan and find another team or sport.

Not liking the gm is one thing, obsessing over the gm and coach or anything the gm does could be depressing?
Im thinking the gm did well in hiring Chauncey, but we will have to see what he can do.

I predict a great off-season for Olshey. He's a really good GM with some obvious flaws. Getting Billups was an A+ move.
Honest question... what would a 'great off-season' look like?

Portland doesn't have any draft picks this summer.

In FA, Portland only has the tax MLE (~$6M) or minimum contracts to spend (outside of re-signing our own FA).

It doesn't feel like there are enough tools available to have a 'great' off-season.

a lot of teams are in the same position, at least in free agency. I also look at either CJ or Norm (s&t) as possible trade pieces. I don’t think both will return. They also have draft picks to trade again and I expect that’ll be the most realistic avenue to upgrade the team. I’m expecting another Roco type deal, especially if/when DJJ picks up his option.

I think we're going to see a lot more of our young bench players in the rotation and that the hope will be Chauncey Brooks and Rogers can turn Ant, Elleby, Nas and Giles into NBA two way players...Olshey said when he announced Stotts was no longer the coach that we didn't need draft picks because we didn't play them anyway so I think they'll play them now with the salary concerns...we will also probably find the Moses Brown, Jalen Hoard type 2 way players...I think Norm comes back but Melo and Kanter and Collins are gone..DJJ probably as well the mystery will be CJ...that's the needle mover piece but who knows

I thought you guys were exaggerating about the blazers subreddit... wow, they called this cult like behavior.

it's like twitter, they get in those little groupthink bubbles and they force out anyone that doesn't agree with the herd and they think they have righteousness on their sides so they can't do any wrong and they are on a moral crusade for good, it's definitely cult behavior and reddit is really bad about that with the upvote and downvote sytem

I'm glad we don't get in those group think bubbles... ;]

What the fuck, people are still talking about this shit? Move the fuck on, just ignore this shit guys and help it go away. You are adding to the noise by discussing this over and over. Stop replying to people who want to keep dragging this shit into the dirt, and you will see how quick this thread goes to the bottom.

Yeah, I'm with you that there's not much to see here but when SI and Yahoo Sports run national stories on something new about this situation (a situation that should probably be left alone). I think it's understandable for the fans that care the most about this team to comment on those national stories that are about the team.

To tell everyone to ignore it and not give it air because it's negative and it's unfair to Chauncey, isn't very realistic. I also don't think there should be any subject that's in the news, about our team, that people should be discouraged from discussing on here.

We aren't ignoring it completely if people have been discussing this same fucking thing for the last couple weeks. It was brought up and discussed in the media, by Neil and Billups himself, and my national media.

At the end of the day there is no new information man, just media with a agenda. Now, what we can do is not keep beating a dead horse, almost the same thing as ignoring it. It's done with man, he is the coach!

So you want to keep talking about this over and over in say a month if another media outlet brings up some 'claim"

Move on! and whats more in annoying to these woke fans and media that have a agenda, is to ignore! That bothers them more than anything.

You also say, there is nothing much to see here and then say they are saying something new about the situation. That doesn't make sense, there is nothing new it's just some sour media claim

I'm just don't make it my business to tell people to shut up about things that are very prominent in the media, about this team, on a forum about this team. A story ran yesterday about the investigation that Neil wouldn't go into during the press conference. The story gave new information about how that investigation was conducted or more so what wasn't done during the investigation. When the national media is talking about this team, this forum should not only feel free to discuss it, it would be really weird if they didn't.

SI and Yahoo aren't "woke" activists, they're following stories that have interest. You're trying to tell people what they should be interested in. The fact that you're using the word woke in a negative connotation makes me suspect that you also use the term cancel culture in a negative connotation but what could be more limiting to the people's right to dialogue than to tell them what they shouldn't be discussing?

what shit are you rambling about now? We discussed this shit already many times, we are fucking 80 pages deep into this thread. Its been all over media as well. There is a point where enough is enough, its best to just stop discussing and move on or we are gonna be here forever.

Are you not seeing most dont care or have moved on from this? I was talking to those. Those like you that want to keep talking about it can, but once the ones that dont care anymore stop interacting in this discussion, you will see how small the circle of those trying to beat a dead horse is.

It actually seems exactly what I say is correct, ignoring a continuously dead horse topic bothers people more than anything, and now you trying to make it a thing to say we shouldn't ignore it lmao.

Its a very small percentage of people still complaining, and that's a small bunch of fans and Portland media. One or two SI articles doesn't change that.

This has been a bad look for Portland fans, and even pissed off our superstar.

If you ever go to a neutral media forum, like go to youtube or somewhere else for videos posted about the Billups hire, its 90% positive comments, or almost all positive. It makes you understand how toxic and loud these little bunch of sour fans and media can be.

The faster this is behind us is better for ALL involved.

End of discussion.

The draft is 14 days away, and free agency starts 4 days after that. Hope is on the horizon.

You don't get to dictate when the end of a discussion is in here. I'm all for Chauncey but we don't have to be a monolith in here.

Also this is the "shit" I was "rambling about" that is brand new as of yesterday.

Sorry you have reality that you not only want to look away from but want to dictate if others can discuss. Again, that's not how this place works. I guess the discussion probably continues.

yahoo is pretty much the homepage browser for Blazers Edge.....their articles are front page news on yahoo.

"Jeez, isn't a guy allowed to rape somebody just ONCE, TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AGO?"

Not saying he did, but unless you mean something like the above, you seem to know with iron certainty that he didn't.
that's not what i said.

i said opening all this up and rehashing that night has to be traumatic to the victim, especially if the only goal is to exonerate Billups from the minds of dumbass fans.
