They probably finished interviews earlier today or late yesterday and had some time to decide today. And they probably wanted to make the decision ASAP because there are a lot of openings so if they like someone they should just make the push instead of trying to deliberate. A coaching staff needs to be built as well and without a decision on the head coach, they can't proceed. Good assistants may be gone by then.

Don't care for Fizdale as a head coach, and feel like his impact was overstated in Miami while he was assistant mainly because he was just close to the stars. But at least he has been a HC before.

The two things that immediately came to my mind were that Olshey wanted Billups and if he didn't get his way he might be gone OR Dame wanted Billups over the other finalists and let it be known if they didn't hire him he'd ask for a trade.
