Motive seemed to matter to Comey when he "cleared" Clinton.Ok I see your position. Regardless of her motive though she still commited espionage. Even if her intentions were good. If I fired a gun and my motive was to shoot a bottle off a wall, yet the bullet that left my gun hit and killed someone, I still commited murder, even if it wasn't my motive or intention to do so.
Your analogy isn't a good one. It's likely manslaughter at most. In fact, most of the time in many places, like California, accidentally killing someone is no crime at all.
