Chris Paul trade ideas! (post them here please)

Interesting. Still the proposed failed deal does not work. You have to include Oden or someone.

The report was that the owner decided he was not yet ready to move Paul, not that the package wasn't good enough.

you say defense is underrated when talking about Payton and then venerate Nash, who's defense was abysmal. Defense is underrated and while Nash was flashy, he was neither transcendent offensively nor even slightly valuable on defense.

"Whose."
And that's perfectly consistent. Defense is underrated, which is why Payton was better than Paul despite not being the shooter that Paul is (and probably not the passer).
However, both Nash and Kidd have shown themselves to have a bigger impact on teams than Paul (I believe - and evidently, so do the MVP voters, at least in Nash's case). Paul is more of a ball hog because of his scoring. Clearly Nash COULD be like that (he's an amazing scorer when he wants to be) but is better at getting the whole team clicking.
Defense is underrated, and Nash is a horrible defender. But Nash is so good at other things (even better than Paul at shooting and passing) that he makes up for it. And Paul is WAY overrated as a defender (the All-Defense voters would disagree here. Not all voters are created equal)

Paul, until last year when he struggled with injuries, was putting up historically good production. He was right behind LeBron James in PER.

PER schmer.

Paul's no defensive whiz like Payton or Kidd, but he's solid. Deron Williams has almost never been anywhere close to Paul. He's constantly compared to Paul because they were drafted together and people love to act as though that makes players rivals. Carmelo Anthony was compared to James for several years, despite clearly being worse, until it just became too silly to continue. I think Deron Williams is around Roy's caliber and Paul is around Wade's value. There's a clear and significant difference.

Except in the playoffs, and when Williams plays Paul.

The only point guards in history I'd prefer over Paul are Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.

Somebody's smitten. I'd take Deron Williams over Paul RIGHT NOW (and so, apparently, would Charles Barkley). (Partly because Paul looks like he might be injury-prone. And partly because I just love Williams' game.)

I would pay good (or bad) money to watch Paul and Rajon Rondo go up against each other in a series. That would be fun.

This entire discussion is irrelevant.

I like the emotion you bring to this forum. You give Blazers discussions the tragic appeal of a life or death struggle between good and evil. Especially when discussing Bron/Wade/Bosh to Chicago.

I'm in a rare mood today. Not that over the top emotion is rare, but the happy joyful bit has been a bit lacking the past few months.

It does not work salary cap wise. Something else has to go out...

CP3 and Okafor to the Bulls for Deng.

Are you talking about the reported trade via ESPN or the OP's trade?

The one via ESPN. They don't have us sending out Oden, yet we are taking back Okafor. Something is a little fishy here. Perhaps the source is KP and telling them "yeah, we almost had it, but in end they are deciding/said no." I don't know, could be a possibility that it is KP who did this...

I like the enthusiasm! A welcome respite from the cynical bastards like myself. Keep on keepin' on!

Would you do Rose for Chris Paul straight up? It would eat up a chunk of cap space, but you'd have enough left for a Bosh.

(Or just add Rose to your trade suggestion.)

World Wide Wes told JC that Paul would come to portland, but portland needs to improve the deal

If it were pure talent considered, yeah I'd do it.

On the other hand, Rose plays awfully good for a lot less paycheck.

Camby's extension kicks in later, and it's $11 Million.

When does Paul's BYC end?

Well thta is good he would want to come. So throw in Oden improvment or what kind of improvement in the deal?

We will throw in HCP and the budget for his restaurant expense account and Mike Rice and his Golf court expenses.

Throw camby in there

2 years of Camby is better for NOH than 4 years of Okafor

Perhaps we add Camby and they add Posey? I don't know.

You mean like this:

Paul, Okafor and Posey
for
(deep breath):
Nicolas Batum
Andre Miller
Marcus Camby
Joel Przybilla
Rudy Fernandez
Jerryd Bayless

Which would give us:
Paul, Roy, Aldridge, Oden and ?
along with
Okafor, Posey, Cunningham, Pendergraph, the rooks and as many of our Euros as we can persuade to come over.
Oh, and Wes Matthews.

Killer starting 4/5. Weak-ass bench.

$16.5M TPE for CP3 to the Bulls.

Lakers have a killer 2 or 3 starting lineup depending on how you view Bynum out of 5 and nice defensive player who can hit the 3 in Artest. They also have a weak ass bench minus Odom, although, he was not near as good in these last playoffs as in the past. If we could find a nice defensive and/or 3 point specialist at the SF that would be great. Our bench would be weak, but if the Lakers can get by with a weak bench we could to. Now as for our coaching, well that is another issue...

That TPE looks great on paper except that it if they were to turn around and use it, represents a shit load of committed salary that the Hornets are supposely working hard to get rid of. I was leaning more toward them wanting to dump CP3 for a trade exception and maybe a single player on a small contract, but I'm starting to think a 7 million dollar, 80% insured expiring contract, a 34 year old Miller on a 7 million dollar expiring contract plus some cheap young talent that they can rebuild with immediately without becoming less competitive might be the way to go ... Shit. Who knows.

So Rose is a shooting guard now? I guess it would help if he could shoot.

Rose pretty much played SG when Hinrich became the starter.

And he's got more of a game like MJordan than he does CP3 (strength, lots of inside scoring, quality outside shot, not much 3pt). As a rookie with guys who could score (Ben Gordon 20+, Salmons ~18, Deng 17) he dished 6.3 APG in 37 MPG.

That TPE gets you Melo next summer.

Who cares, it's Chris freakin' Paul. The Lakers won twice with Gasol, Kobe and a weak bench.

And you forgot the rabbit.
