Well, they're calling Tuesday Andre Miller Day aty water coolers around the NBA, because lots of people thought the Blazers signed him simply to be a trade asset, and tomorrow is the first day he is eligible to be traded (check Marc Stein's Weekend Dime for a list of all players with trade restrictions, and when they expire). I think Portland tipped its hand when it went after a wing player in Hedo Turkoglu right from the get-go, and I think that remains a spot they need to fill (along with a big body to backup Joel P. It is a well-known fact around the league that the Knicks are willing to move Al Harrington, who would be a fantastic fit for Portland, but the Blazers would have to take back Jeffries in order for the Knicks to make that deal, and when you throw him in it is very hard to find enough ballast to go along with Andre (and Rudy Fernandez, whom the Knicks would insist upon) to make the deal work

Chris Sheridan = Douche

Everywhere else Al Harrington has been he's been mediocre and now that he's able to chuck at will in SSOL offense he's worth Miller AND Rudy AND we have to take back Jeffries?
:biglaugh:

Um, what? In order to be willing to get a productive player on a reasonable contract (Andre Miller) in return for a mediocre and overpaid player (Al Harrington) and one of the most overpaid players in the game (Jeffries), the Knicks would insist upon Rudy Fernandez?

You know, I'll trade Blake and Outlaw to Orlando for Dwight Howard. But I'll insist on Jameer Nelson to be added, or else no deal.

I'm tellin' ya....Hill and Jeffries for Blake and Travis. Toss our lotto-protected first in if you must.

Ironically, it may also be the first day he actually starts in the backcourt with Brandon Roy.

The way Nate has used Miller certainly lends credence to the rumor Miller was just signed as a trade asset. Why waste time letting Miller and Roy start in the backcourt and learn to play together if the plan all along has been to trade Miller?

If we got him just for a future trade asset...

RLEC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Andre Miller's trade value.

Great move, KP.

If it is true that they signed Miller just for trade bait - that would seem to be a major mistake on KP's part.

After the OKC/NO fiasco, I really wanted the Blazers to swoop in and grab Chandler with the RLEC. He would have been a much more valuable trade asset than Miler....not to mention that the team could desperately use him right now!

We signed Miller as a trade asset?

That's a good way to fuck up team chemistry.

Maybe that's what Roy was alluding to when talking about playing the same 9 players.

If they did sign Miller as a trade asset (makes some sense) . . . then I don't think this move should be judged until we see what the Blazers can get for Miller.

I'm sure it will be a lovely bag of chips.

I am just not buying the idea that this is the only reason they signed him. I think it was more of a "he could help us, and if not, we will try to move him".

The combination of cap space, small expiring and enough young pieces would have been enough to make a trade, imho.

I could see Miller being on the block if Blake weren't sucking shit.
