depends on the pingpong balls, but Hart + lottery pick + 20 mil TPE is not nothing.
I agree but the thing that really hurts just like it did with RoCo and Norm is that we spent legit value to get those guys recently... just like we did with Larry and then we sent them to other teams without making them pay. There should have been a first from the Clippers and another first from the Pelicans and those teams still would have won the deals it just wouldn't have been so one sided... don't forget that the Pelicans have firsts for days. If it was just CJ, yeah they would have been the team that got the better end of the trade but it would have been close to even but adding Larry made it another fleecing.

ya i was happy with this until the Nance addition.

I think I’m the only person who is legitimately excited for the team now.

Why would Jody even continue owning the team if its going to suck? She just got it as an inheritance from her brother. My theory is she wanted to see if they could win a championship around Lillard, but that ship may have sailed. If they trade Lillard, there is absolutely no reason for her to keep the team. Shipping out talent for cap flexibility and future draft picks is a signal that the team is for sale so the new owners can shape a new franchise from the ground up.

Jody doesn't own the Blazers.

Can’t believe the Blazers are on a Fire Sale. Thanks Bert, Jody and Joe

I'm not mad we tore the bandaid off. That was absolutely needed. I'm more disappointed that this was all we got for 4 starting calibre players. This just reeks of Cronin getting the ol' reacharound because he's new and bad at negotiations. You're telling me we couldn't squeeze one more pick out of the Clippers? The fake Laker first or one of the Laker swaps from New Orleans? One of their MANY Milwaukee firsts? I just feel a more experienced GM could have got a bit more value, and those one or two picks would make all the difference when looking at the deals as a whole.

And why did they clear money? Also, how do you know our team isn’t gonna be better? Or do you think this gonna be our roster heading into next season?
I don't know anything--but I am of the opinion that the 2022-23 team will not be better than this year's team would have been had they been healthy.

They cleared money to re-sign Ant and Nurk, presumably. They'll probably try to sign a FA, and either whiff or overpay. Our roster heading into next season (barring additional trades) will be:

Dame/NAW/
Simons/Johnson
Nas/Winslow/Louzada
Watford/Brown
Nurk/

Plus 2 FRP's and 2 FA's. Do you think that roster's better than what we started the season with? I certainly don't. guess it depends on the signings, but I'm not holding my breath.

But again--you're certainly entitled to your perspective.

I will give Cronin credit for actually realizing the core of Lillard, CJ and Nurk won’t work and doing something about it.

Olshey would go to his grave insisting it will work.

Unfortunately, it’s about 3 years too late or we would’ve gotten a decent return.

While I would have hoped for more in return for CJ, I guess I'm fine with this trade on its own as we couldn't go forward with a Dame/CJ/Ant trio. Hart has value, NAW could have some use as a backup, we get a pick, and Didi is worth a flyer.

But this makes the Clippers trade look even worse. That trade wasn't needed to get us under the luxury tax. Norm would've been a perfect 3rd guard who could possibly slide to SF 5-10 minutes with a Dame/Ant starting duo. There is always going to be games one of the three misses with injury.

Now the only contracts above the MLE we have next year is Dame and Hart. Bein in the free agent destination of Portland, that is more bad than good.

hart isn’t as good as CJ so it’s an L bro.
It's debatable if he's better than Larry so it's very possible that for the second time in less than a week we gave up the first and second best players in a trade and didn't get back a huge haul in return. I don't mind losing a trade if it makes the team better now or in the future but I really don't like getting fleeced twice in four days.

Looks like Nurk is headed out to CHA. We shall see

Go look at the free agent class. The best forward is TJ Warren or Robert Covington. LOL.

I'd honestly surprised if the pick doesn't get conveyed this year. New Orleans is five games behind the Clippers for 8th (which, we also helped out recently, if you recall). They would need to pass the Lakers, as well as hold off Sacramento and San Antonio who are not too far behind either (and Sacramento certainly seems like they are not interested in tanking). You'd have to believe that the addition of CJ and an-oft injured Nance is enough to get them into the playoffs. If they miss the playoffs, the pick is likely ours (as it would be very unlikely they jump into the top 4). I'd say the odds are very much in our favor to receive the pick this year, and it will likely be in between 8-14. Not a great pick, but certainly nothing to scoff at.

Don't forget that lotter status is not just about the record. 1-14 go to the non-playoff teams. The Pelicans could end up with a record in the 8-14 range and still lose their pick if they manage to win a play-in spot.

We’ll see man! FWIW I don’t think our primary additions will come in free agency.

So at this point we need to trade Dame. It’s done. We are rebuilding. Get the best value and move on. But wait until Joe is gone. I can’t trust that fucker to get top dollar.

then how is it possible to re-protect it... unless NO did another side deal with MEM to get it back?
I think he means the pick is New Orleans' pick. Originated in New Orleans. Nothing to do with the 1st rounder that came from LA.

Woj is saying Nurk is about to be traded.

i don't think we have any desire to get players who can help us this year. Guessing we might be done.

I don't think so. I'd bet that Cronin has a move to make to add talent before the deadline.

Make it a clean break. I believe that we're setting up to build back better around Dame about as much as I believed Joe when he said the plan was still to build around the core of Dame, CJ and Nurk who had won so many games. It might not be tomorrow, it will likely be on draft night but we're auctioning Dame off before next season.

Until it happens, I'm counting him. but sure, if he's dealt, maybe we'll have Kelly Oubre at PF and Watford at center. :dunno:

If we are really trading Nurk to Charlotte; any chance we can get PJ Washington? He has pretty good stats but they are only playing him 24 minutes a game.
