Colt quits team.

Lets just stop with the Aaron Hernandez comparisons. Kids who get kicked off football teams shouldn't be implicated as possibly being similar to murderers.

I blame all these headcases on the culture of recruiting where these kids are promised things they should never be promised and told they walk on water at an early age. Its never taught that you need to earn things anymore.

Mundt will probably have a more successful future. I'm willing to bet.

Brown might be the TE starter after things shake out, but regardless I'm not worried about the TE spot... they're stacked there

What position should I worry about?

Do you think any of this has to do with how the team was utilizing him this season?

Perhaps. He is an impact player at his position and he just couldn't get enough touches. I've often wondered why we retain as many WR's as we do as well.

I was only speaking for myself but you can worry about whatever you want to including the TE depth/talent on the Ducks. About the only thing I'm worried about with this year's Oregon team is staying healthy, which for the most part they've done. Still sucks losing someone with Colt's top shelf talent though...

QF-Effing-T

I tend to lay low on the swearing, but that is some of the stupidest shit I've read in a long time.

and that will be the last I respond to that comparison. Because its not worth any more discussion.

I would just really like to know the full story. I doubt we'll get it, but I'd like to know if it was substance abuse, or if it was ego, or if the team got tired of his bullshit...

Canzano was on the radio blaming Helfrich for Colt leaving. Saying he doesn't embrace players like Chip did.

That must be it. I would also like to blame Helf for Cliff Harris, Lache Seastrunk, and Devon Blackmon.

Re: the Hernandez comp...obviously, I'm referring to his attitude, ability to be coached, freakish talent, respect for others, etc. There are some other similarities, but I'll leave that open to interpretation. Both apparently make terrible decisions and may (although Colt could prove us all wrong) have wasted an amazing career.

As it stands now, I would hate to see Colt's decisions with a few mil in his pocket.

So, it's cool to compare him to Cliff - substance abuse, poor decisions, arrests but not Hernandez (who has not been found guilty)?

Cool for you, but I disagree and will draw any comparisons I feel. You're free to disagree but don't try to tell me what I can and can't think.

Can is free to have an opinion. It's not any more valuable than any of ours. I would say his opinion stinks. Let's blame Chip too for being the Commander in Chief who offered/recruited above mentioned players. Heck, let's blame Bellotti for empowering Chip.

My response was in jest, referring to how stacked we are at virtually every position. Our 2nd string at every position could beat the last half of the Pac-12 teams IMO.

To me, I think we could be a little bit better at linebacker.

His immense talent guarantees him that. But his strange behavior and piss poor attitude may cost him a few rounds.

Oh, I think he'll self destruct, but I think some team will give him a shot. The guy has too much talent and he's a known commodity. Every game someone would talk about "Colt Lyerla and his NFL ready body." Who knows, maybe he'll get his shit together.

I know this kid we could recruit to play LB. I think his name is Colt and is a local kid. He's had some issues in the past but heck, you never know....
