I do think HCP is misunderstood.

He's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

He likes to mess with the rookies, but calling them rookies might be a clue that he sees it as a kind of hazing ritual and not some disdain.

He takes a lot of shit from all the really funny jokes made about him and his wife and laughs along with us.

I don't at all think he's got some sort of agenda to chase people off. More like letting them know he's here.

I'm sure you arent giving away the web ads that are on this site. This site gets very solid consistent traffic, especially the Trail Blazer forum.

Those ads are the NBA's ads. Specific to Portland.

There are no ads anywhere else on the site.

Probably very true, but here is the thing.

IF I were misunderstood I would try to make it clear what I meant, rather than continue to speak down to those who are misunderstanding. Once that happens, its no longer a misunderstanding, its just understood that he will talk down to you..
Its called respecting those you converse with. IF you have no respect for them then why bother clarifying things so you are understood.
These really are solvable issues without having to change ones ways. Its just mutual respect and until I get it, I will not give it anymore. I've put more energy into trying to keep things cool with HCP and I than it is worth and when that energy is not matched or at least acknowledged, then I lose all respect for the nice guy who is misunderstood.
That will be my last comment on this topic because I don't know how to better explain myself for others to understand that your viewpoint of him is not the same as others and your relationship with him is not the same as it it with others.

I never watched this series, but my girlfriend made me watch this clip because of how I talk about the forums. I think it may apply here.

Really? Especially considering this particular thread.........had I seen something like this before I joined, I may very well have kept moving. I'm 63 years old and have dealt with enough assholes in my life. I try not to set myself up for failure. If I can avoid them with a little time and effort, I usually try to do so. That was the only point I was trying to make. And with some research I felt (and still do for the most part) this forum was worth participating in. My point was; don't jump into something and then act hurt and surprised if it wasn't what you were expecting.......

I don't agree with mocking someone for that. It's a legitimately good social skill to have. I get that everyone thinks that, on the internet, being anti-social is a virtue--but I think it's refreshing that someone made a realistic attempt to "repair a relationship." The PMs he said he sent seemed pretty solid.
