I mean, I get that you put on a character and that you're not actually a jerk. I like you. I'm just saying that when your character is the first thing some/lots/one new person/people experience, you run the risk of them thinking your character is you. For good reason, since that's all they know of you.

I can only speak for myself, but long before I make the decision to jump into any kind of social media platform (such as this forum) I tend to research (i.e.; lurk) before committing myself. I lurked on this site for quite awhile, checking out member posts, trying to figure out if it was a place I wanted to be. It took all of a day or two to figure HCP out (along with a few other posters). HCP made me laugh my ass off and negated the downer vibes I was picking up from the aforementioned others. He was like a recruiting poster (pun intended). Anybody whomsoever that just jumps onto a site like this without testing the waters or doing some research deserves whatever shit they get. Or else needs to post on OLive for a year or two to toughen up........this place is getting to be too much of a microcosm of what's currently happening throughout the country.......

Also, some people may get HCP and still find him annoying vs humorous. I'm not saying I find him either. I'm saying its people right to have a differing opinion of someone who only shows one side of himself and you cant expect everyone to figure that out because not everyone humor bone is the same.
I find it funny that some people think that EVERYONE must like HCP because... why?????
Because he makes troll posts and stirs things up and doesn't pay his bets, but since some people find him funny, everyone must or they have issues?

Im simply playing devils advocate. I honestly don't care, but I find it fun to point out the double standards. He thinks I have a thing for him or something. Im just finding my own entertainment in all of this by tossing turds back is all.

I gotta say, doing poster research before joining a forum strikes me as unusual.

And it's not really about being "tough" or who deserves what. I'm just saying that there are natural reasons why playing a jerk might lead people to think you are one, especially when that's the only experience you've had with that person. I agree that people should ideally be thick-skinned, but that goes both ways.

But I try to point this out, and old timers such as Riverman come at me with "Lighten up, let it go, USE YOUR FUCKING IGNORE FUNCTION", which is funny, because HCP was the one who took shit too seriously and started up drama, HCP was the one who wrote a novel about it after it was done, and Riverman is using caps and cussing out me while also telling me to lighten up.

Ya'll are on some weird shit this summer. It's been ridiculous. New people are getting chased away from the forum because of crap like this. How many regular new posters have we added in the past couple years? 3? 4?...
